BARREL RACING REPORT January 8, 2019 27 Bruner Sets Arena Record at Texas Circuit Finals By Amy Wilson Waco, Texas welcomed the Texas Circuit Finals Rodeo where the Doc’s Jack Frost Top 12 WPRA barrel racers competed January 3-5 in three rounds. And because of her own experiences, she was able to share some advice to some who were disappointed at the circuit finals. “There were like three girls that were first time qualifiers, and I felt really bad for them. The first time I went, I had to borrow another person’s horse – my horse was crippled. He hit at least one barrel every trip. I was so discouraged. I told them that it’s not go- ing to be their last time…just keep looking forward.” Kinsel, who had about an $11,000 lead going in, had a heart- breaking start to her weekend when she lost her “best friend and travel buddy of nearly 5 years”, her dog Nina. “I lost her a couple hours before the perf started on Friday while we were in Waco. I had exceptional help though, and I would like to thank my friend Paige Phillips and her family and Taci and Jeremy Bettis. If it wasn’t for them, I couldn’t have gotten through those two days.
