Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX) Setup

ACCESS SERVER Setup for IPX You will need to do the following to setup the Access Server for IPX: • Click on the Network Parameters Screen and select IPX or Both (both allows for TCP/IP & IPX) • Set the IPX Router Mac Address to either the MAC address of the Server or the IPX Router • Set the IPX Encapsulation Format to match format set in Novell Server

AS-Client Setup for IPX Do the following to setup the AS-Client for IPX: For the 9X-Novell Netware Clients: • Right click on the “Network Neighborhood” icon and select properties • Add either a Novell Netware Client or Microsoft Netware Client • Highlight the IPX/SPX-compatible protocol binding for Dial-Up Adapter, then click the properties button • Select the NetBIOS tab and check the box “I want to enable NetBIOS over IPX/SPX” • Remove the IPX 32-bit protocol binding and the IPX/SPX-compatible protocol binding for the Radio PC Card ONLY • Verify the client has an IPX 32-bit protocol binding and IPX/SPX-compatible protocol binding for Dial-Up Adapter • Add Novell Distributed Print Services for the Novell client

For the 9X-Microsoft Netware Clients: • Remove the IPX/SPX-compatible protocol binding for the Radio PC Card ONLY • Verify the client has an IPX/SPX-compatible protocol binding for Dial-Up Adapter • Add File and Printer sharing for the Microsoft client a) Select the “General” tab in the Microsoft Netware Client properties and enter the following: Enter a “Preferred server” name (server name on the Novell server) Click the ‘OK’ button to save changes

For the NT/2000-Novell Netware Clients: • Right click on the “My Network Places” icon and select properties • Then right click on the Radio PC Card adapter and select properties Verify there is a Novell Netware Client or Microsoft Netware Client for Windows 2000

• Highlight the “NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol” and select properties Enter in the internal network number if you plan to run File and Print Services for Netware, IPX routing, or any other network services that relies on the SAP agent • Verify the “NWLink NetBIOS” adapter was added during the install

For ALL Novell Netware Clients do the following: a) Select the “Client” tab in the Novell Netware Client properties and enter the following: Enter a “Preferred server” name (server name on the Novell server) Enter a “Preferred tree” name (tree name on the Novell network) Enter a “Name context” (the full path of a network object in the preferred tree) b) Select the “Protocol Preferences” tab in the Novell Netware Client properties and do the following: Highlight IPX in the “Protocol order” window Click the “Up” button to allow IPX precedence over IP Click the ‘OK’ button to save changes For the 9X-Novell Netware & Microsoft Netware Clients: • Double-click the “Dial-Up Networking” folder located in the “My ” icon • Right click the “AS-Client Entry” icon and select properties • Select the “Server Types” tab • Select “Log on to network” under the Advanced options section • Under the Allowed network protocols section, select the IPX/SPX Compatible protocol and TCP/IP (only select this if you want TCP/IP along with IPX)

For the NT/2000-Novell Netware & Microsoft Netware Clients: • Right click the “My Network Places” folder and select properties • Right click the “AS-Client Entry” icon and select properties • Select the “Server Types” tab • Select “Log on to network” under the Advanced options section • Under the Allowed network protocols section, select the IPX/SPX Compatible protocol and TCP/IP (only select this if you want TCP/IP along with IPX)
