Comply and follow all policies of McKinney ISD athletics, MISD Code of Conduct, MISD Athletic Regulations/ Expectations, MISD Bus Policies and Procedures, District Bronco Tennis 10-5A, Texas UIL, and USTA court conduct, policies, and procedures.

Boyd Tennis Policies and Procedures coincide and reinforce Attend ALL in-season and off season practices, workouts, and team meetings. COACHABILITY Players are expected to listen and adhere to coaching from both LOCKERS head and assistant coach during practice and matches. FALL MATCHES FOR LADDER POSITIONS -Time Management - Players need to learn to balance time and plan ahead! Both JV and Varsity will play matches the first week or two of our season. All players will play matches, but not necessarily the same number of matches (depending upon their Tutorials Times records against various players). - 1st Option: AM Tutorials – if your teacher does not have AM tutorials, there is another teacher in the department that teaches the same class whose tutorials you can attend. Letter Award Criteria As a member of any team it is an honor to receive an athletic letter. An athletic letter shows that you are an outstanding member of a team and that you achieved specific goals. Play at least 12 matches/tournaments at the varsity level (1-6 singles or 1-3 doubles, or mixed doubles against another varsity level team) . Spring Tournaments count as 1 total match. Fall duals each count as 1 match even if both singles and doubles Opportunities were played. Student-Teacher-Coach Relationship Missed Tournaments/Matches We will work to develop a positive rapport with teachers. We will keep teaches aware of situations If you miss a match/tournament due to a vacation, dentist/ortho appointment, driver affecting academic achievement. 10 TEAM TENNIS Practice Times Fall Season - usually lasts from mid-August thru mid-October/early November - It gets HOT! We follow our MISD Hot Weather Policy, but we will practice! Varsity - most matches after school on Tues/Friday th JV will be practicing during 6 period and - total of 19 matches (3 girls/boys doubles, 1 mixed doubles, 6 boys/girls singles - no ad scoring (2/3 sets) after school from 3:00-4:30. - top 7 boys/girls guaranteed to play - matches usually start by 430 PM. When traveling away, we could be home late! - top 4 teams move onto area tournament th Varsity will be practicing during 7 period JV and after school until 3:30. - most matches after school on Thursday - total of 19 matches (3 girls/boys doubles, 1 mxd doubles, 6 boys/girls singles - lines 8-14 boys/girls usually guaranteed to play (this may be a mix of 6th/7th period) - no ad scoring (2/3 sets) - matches usually start by 430 PM. When traveling away, we could be home late! - top 4 teams move onto area tournament

INDIVIDUAL TENNIS Spring Season - usually lasts from end January thru mid/end April Practice/Match Pickup - It gets COLD! Sweats will be required some days. Match Goals/Objectives Important Dates Bronco Fest – September 16 @ 6:00 PM We will play with effort and give all we have within us in every match from the first serve to the last ball we hit no matter what the score card reads; winning or losing. Homecoming – September 18 (we play Plano East @ Boyd)

We are going to be ready to outlast our opponents in long matches. We will be conditioned and physically fit. We will be stronger, faster, and have better endurance than our opponents. Pink Out Match – October 16 vs. Hebron

We will prepare mentally for matches by considering team and individual goals. At the conclusion of each match, each player will reflect and evaluate their level of play based on FunFest Fundraiser – September 25 @ Boyd (tentative) goals set for that particular match. As coaches we will talk to players at the conclusion of their matches and ask “How did you play?” In those conversations our focus is not on winning/losing, but level of play and goals met for the particular player. Start of Spring Practice – January 25 (tentative)

We are going to play smart. We will not beat ourselves. If our opponent is better than us, we will make them earn every point they win. If they out play us, we will give them credit and walk off Spring Flower Fundraiser - Begin Sales March 28-April 14 the court with our heads held high; knowing that we tried different strategies and gave ourselves every opportunity to win. Spring Flower Pick-Up – April 30 @ 9:00 AM-10:30 AM We will step on the court for each match with the expectation that we will win. When we win, we will walk off the court humbly, but with confidence.
