The list of participants who attended the meeting is attached atAnnexure-I. 2) Initiatives of the State: Ms. Anita Karwal, Secretary (SE&L] invited West Bengal to give a presentation on School Education in the State. Sh. Manish Jain, Secretary, School Education [West Bengal], gave a presentation which included the following major points: a] Banglar Shiksha: This is an e-governance initiative of the School Education Department of the State to digitize all school related information and put different e- government initiatives can be brought under one single umbrella. Banglar Shiksha fwww.banglarshiksha.gov.in] is also complemented by App based supports, namely. Teacher & Student Mobile App, E-HRMS Mobile App- for grant-in-aid teaching and non- teaching employees of primary and secondary schools, M-Paridarshan Mobile App- for mobile inspection, monitoring and supervision of schools, Mid-Day Meal Inspection App- for real time reporting. b] Kanyashree: Kanyashree Prakalpa fwbkanyashree.gov.in). an initiative of the State, seeks to improve the status and wellbeing of girls, specifically those from socio- economically disadvantaged families through DBT. As on date, 1.94 crore girls (13 to 18 years] have been awarded under this scheme: annual incentive @ Rs. 1000 per annum per girl student and one time grnat of Rs. 25,000 when the girl turns 18 years. Some noteworthy outcomes of this scheme are significant reduction of dropout, child marriage and improved school attendance. This scheme has won many prestigious awards such as. United Nations Public Service award [2017], United Nations WSIS Prize [2016], Manthan Award for Digital Inclusion for Development, South Asia & Asia Pacific [2014], etc. c] Provision of School Bags and Shoes: In 2018-19, State Government had started an initiative for providing school bags and school shoes [Pather Sathi] to all students studying in classes V to VIII.
