Download Sponsorship Packet WHO: You! WHAT: Wine/spirits tasting, food pairing with Boston Red Sox players, hosted by Craig Breslow WHERE: Boston, MA WHEN: April 30, 2015 7:00pm WHY: Benefiting the Strike 3 Foundation LETTER FROM CRAIG Thank you for your willingness to learn more about the Strike 3 Foundation and its mission to raise funding, heighten awareness, and mobilize support for pediatric cancer research and treatment. We invite you to consider supporting our third Sip Happens wine tasting and food pairing event. This invitation comes on the heels of our most sucessful year to date, having raised over $650,000 in 2014, and pushing our total funds raised since 2008 to nearly $3 Million. I founded the Strike 3 Foundation after my perceived reality of becoming a physician, and fantasy of becoming a Major League Baseball player, were exactly flipped, and after my sister Lesley’s successful defeat of cancer. While this work has allowed me to remain connected to the medical community, there is more that I can do, there is more that we can do, and there is more that we must do. Through rigorous financial practices, we have managed to disburse over $1,500,000 while keeping administrative expenses less than 3% of revenue. We have supported programs at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital and Research Institute Oakland, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and most recently, supported 3 oncology fellows at The Dana Farber Cancer Institute, awarding them the necessary funding to execute their research. As we plan our next major event, we do so with the backing of a loyal Boston community, widespread recognition of our cause, and the guidance of generous resources on which we can lean. For the last two years, I have been humbled to serve as the Red Sox nominee for the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award. I recognize the incredible team of volunteers and donors that has allowed me to reach such achievement. Now, I hope that you consider joining our team and helping us make a meaningful difference in the lives of our most precious and innocent. Thank you, Craig Breslow Boston Red Sox ABOUT US Who We Are The Strike 3 Foundation was founded by MLB pitcher Craig Breslow as a charitable agency that heightens awareness, mobilizes support, and raises funding for childhood cancer research. How We Work The Strike 3 Foundation acts as a fundraising engine for beneficiary organizations that share our mission of childhood cancer treatment and eradication. We have partnered with nationally recognized healthcare facilities as well as clinical research organizations to ensure that the donations we raise, and then distribute, are getting directly into the hands of those professionals who are positioned to put the funds to their best possible uses. Growth and Funding Since 2008, The Strike 3 Foundation has generated over $2,700,000 in revenue. Funds have been disbursed to support programs like the Bone Marrow Transplantation Program at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, annually, a Boston based oncology research project, research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a Siblings and Survivors Program at the Children’s Hospital and Research Center of Oakland, and development at the comprehensive pediatric oncology and hematology center at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Our total administrative expenses represent less than 2% of total revenue, which is largely a result of our all-volunteer staff of diverse and dedicated professionals committing their time and expertise. Craig was published in the Boston Globe in March of 2013 in a Letter to the Editor he penned in response to a disparaging portrayal of athlete charities. http://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/letters/2013/03/28/globe-needs-more-bal- ance-assessing-athletes-charity/peM3IIPggJu6h3jNyP41MP/story.html For questions or to learn more Website: http://www.strike3foundation.org Email: [email protected] Phone: 203-724-1067 Address: Strike 3 Foundation PO Box 191 Monroe, CT 06468 SPONSORSHIPS $50,000 ~ Estate Sponsor * One Available Ten tickets to a Red Sox game as Craig Breslow’s guests (mutually agreed upon date) Ten field passes for Red Sox batting practice (same day as game attendance) Twenty autographed Craig Breslow jerseys Twenty tickets to the Wine Not? pre-event reserve wine tasting experience with Red Sox players Twenty tickets to the Sip Happens wine tasting and food pairing event Four reserved cocktail tables at the Sip Happens wine tasting and food pairing Logo on Step and Repeat Celebrity/VIP Red Carpet Banner Walk the Celebrity/VIP Red Carpet Group photo on Celebrity/VIP Red Carpet with Craig Breslow Name recognition on event projection screen Acknowledgement of support on the official Strike 3 Foundation website Placement of promotional materials in VIP gift bags Twenty VIP gift bags Twenty tickets to Estate Sponsor Reception on April 16, 2015 (Location TBD) Recognition as premier event Sponsor $25,000 ~ Magnum Sponsor Six tickets to a Red Sox game as Craig Breslow’s guests (mutually agreed upon date) Six field passes for Red Sox batting practice (same day as game attendance) Twelve autographed Craig Breslow jerseys Twelve tickets to the Wine Not? pre-event reserve wine tasting experience with Red Sox players Twelve tickets to the Sip Happens wine tasting and food pairing event Two reserved cocktail tables at the Sip Happens wine tasting and food pairing Walk the Celebrity/VIP Red Carpet Group photo on Red Carpet with Craig Breslow Name recognition on event projection screen Acknowledgement of support on the official Strike 3 Foundation website Placement of promotional materials in VIP gift bags Twelve VIP gift bags Visit www.strike3foundation.org/events to purchase $10,000 ~ Cult Wine Sponsor Four tickets to a Red Sox game as Craig Breslow’s guests (mutually agreed upon date) Four field passes for Red Sox batting practice (same day as game attendance) Eight tickets to the Wine Not? pre-event reserve wine tasting experience with Red Sox players Eight tickets to the Sip Happens wine tasting and food pairing event Walk the Celebrity/VIP Red Carpet Name recognition on event projection screen Acknowledgement of support on the official Strike 3 Foundation website Placement of promotional materials in VIP gift bags Eight VIP gift bags $5,000 ~ Sommelier Sponsor Four tickets to the Wine Not? pre-event reserve wine tasting experience with Red Sox players Four tickets to the Sip Happens wine tasting and food pairing event Placement of promotional materials in VIP gift bags Four VIP gift bags $1000 ~ Reserve Sponsor Five tickets to the Sip Happens wine tasting and food pairing event $250 ~ Aperitif Individual Tickets One ticket for attendance to the Sip Happens wine tasting and food pairing event SPONSORSHIPS Food Sponsor – Sip Happens Event Provide appetizer/tapas/cocktail hour food portions for three hours for ~400 people Provide attendant to serve and staff tasting station for three hours Receive four guest tickets to the Sip Happens wine tasting and food pairing event Allow for placement of promotional materials in VIP gift bags Recognition with name on the official Strike 3 Foundation website Sponsor name included in social media coverage Signage and marketing material permitted at pairing stations Wine and/or Spirits Sponsor – Sip Happens Event Provide wine and/or spirits to be paired and sampled for three hours for ~400 people Provide oenophiles and mixologists at your discretion to discuss pairings (pouring not permitted) Receive four guest tickets to the Sip Happens wine tasting and food pairing event Allow for placement of promotional materials in VIP gift bags Recognition with name on the official Strike 3 Foundation website Sponsor name included in social media coverage Signage and marketing material permitted at pairing stations Wine Not? • Jewish Baseball by Justice Robert E
Jewish Baseball by Justice Robert E. Gordon The Jewish players in the major leagues are: 1. Ryan Braun, age 34, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder in a 12-year career. Ryan’s father was born in Israel and Ryan became the 24th player to combine 300-plus homers with 200-plus stolen bases. Ryan will eclipse Hank Greenberg’s 331 homeruns this year. He was nine short at the start of the year. 2. Alex Bregman, age 24, Houston Astros third-baseman, was named Most Valuable Player in the American League in the All-Star Game in 2018, and finished 5th for the American League Most Valuable Player Award. Alex was a first-round draft pick. 3. Richard Bleier, age 30, is a left-handed pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles in his third big-league season, and had a 1.93 ERA last year. He had season-ending surgery and is on the DL. 4. Max Fried, age 24, is a left-handed pitcher for the Atlanta Braves, and is a promising star with a low ERA and may be one of the best relief pitchers in baseball. Max is a former first-round draft pick. 5. Ty Kelly, age 29, was a star for Team Israel, but this infielder and outfielder has yet to show such promise for the New York Mets. 6. Ian Kinsler, age 36, had a terrific major-league career as a great second-baseman, but this should be his last year in the majors with the San Diego Padres. 7. Ryan Lavarnway, age 30, a catcher, was a star on Team Israel, but has yet shown such promise for the Pittsburgh Pirates and now with the New York Yankees.

  • A's News Clips, Wednesday, June 2, 2010 Oakland A's Pitching Staff Can't
A’s News Clips, Wednesday, June 2, 2010 Oakland A's pitching staff can't hold on to early 4-0 lead By Joe Stiglich, Oakland Tribune Gio Gonzalez couldn't hang on to a sizable early lead, but he wasn't solely responsible for the A's 9-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night. Tyson Ross (1-4) paved the way for Boston's go-ahead rally by issuing two walks, and fellow relievers Craig Breslow and Michael Wuertz also allowed a combined four runs. Indeed, there was no shortage of blame to pass around as the A's pitching staff, which has been front and center in the team's recent streak of good play, allowed 14 hits and nine walks in the opener of a three-game series at Fenway Park. "As a staff, we just didn't do a good job tonight," Wuertz said. The A's lost for just the third time in 11 games and fell back into a first-place tie with the Texas Rangers in the American League West. Boston's Victor Martinez went 5 for 5 and became the first major league catcher to hit four doubles in a game since Cleveland's Sandy Alomar did it June 6, 1997, also at Fenway Park. The A's have played some of the quickest games in the majors this season, but Tuesday's wasn't one of them. After the first pitch was delayed 20 minutes because of steady rain, the game played out at a leisurely 3 hours, 29 minutes.
