Robert Cochran Coach Robert Cochran was named head coach of the Longview Lady Lobos program in April of 2017. He is a native Texan who grew up in Texarkana, where he graduated from Liberty-Eylau High School, lettering in both basketball and . He attended A&M University in College Station, Texas, where he served as an equipment manager for both the men’s basketball and football teams. In the spring of 1996, Coach Cochran received his bachelor of science in kinesiology with a specialization in sport management. After graduation from Texas A&M, Coach Cochran worked for the Texas Rangers Baseball Club as an equipment manager and clubhouse attendant. He then moved back to Texarkana to begin his coaching career at his alma mater, Liberty Eylau. He worked at L-E for 17 years, coaching both football and , and taking over the girls basketball team following his second year. Coach Cochran was a part of two football state championships at L-E (1999 and 2006). He later earned the title of girls athletics coordinator at L-E, overseeing a stretch that saw three consecutive team state championships in track and a state final appearance in softball. In his 15 years as the girls basketball head coach at L-E, his teams won 12 district championships, made 12 regional tournament appearances and reached the state tournament three times, culminating in a state championship in 2010. In the spring of 2013, Coach Cochran accepted the girls athletics coordinator and head girls basketball position at Texas High School in Texarkana. During his three years at Texas High, his teams won back-to-back district championships for the first time in the school’s history. Coach Cochran’s overall career record is 448-142 (.800) with a career playoff record of 53-17. His basketball teams have reached the playoffs in all 18 of his years as a head coach. His teams have accumulated 14 district championships and three regional championships to go along with the 2010 state championship. Coach Cochran was named the Texarkana Gazette Northeast Texas-Southwest Arkansas Coach of the Year four times and has 14 District Coach of the Year honors to his credit. Coach Cochran enjoys reading, traveling, and attending live sports events in his free time.
