Dubuque, IA - The Back Waters Stage, Presented by American Trust, returns this summer on Schmitt Island! Q Casino is proud to announce the return of our outdoor summer experience, Back Waters Stage. This summer, both national acts and local favorites will take the stage through community events and Q Casino hosted concerts. All ages are welcome to experience the excitement at this outdoor venue. Community members can expect to enjoy a wide range of concerts from all genres from modern country to rock. The Back Waters Stage will be sponsoring two great community festivals this summer. Kickoff to Summer will be kicking off the summer series with a free show on Friday, May 25. Summer’s Last Blast 19 which is celebrating 19 years of raising money for area charities including FFA, the Boy Scouts, Dubuque County Fairgrounds and Sertoma. Summer’s Last Blast features the area’s best entertainment with free admission on Friday, August 24 and Saturday, August 25. The Back Waters Stage Summer Concert Series starts off with country rappers Colt Ford and Moonshine Bandits on Saturday, June 16. Colt Ford made an appearance in the Q Showroom last March to a sold out crowd. Ford has charted six times on the Hot Country Songs charts and co-wrote “Dirt Road Anthem,” a song later covered by Jason Aldean. On Thursday, August 9, the Back Waters Stage switches gears to modern rock with platinum recording artist, Seether. -

Today, Rolling Stone Country has premiered Earle’s version of Clark’s “Old Friends.” The closing track on GUY, the song features fellow Guy Clark cohorts Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Terry Allen, Jerry Jeff Walker, Mickey Raphael, Shawn Camp, Verlon Thompson, Gary Nicholson, and the photographer Jim McGuire. Rolling Stone says, “In the hands of Earle and his band the Dukes, ‘Old Friends’ is a solemn prayer, with Harris harmonizing with Earle on the opening verse.” Hear it HERE. Judas! from Inside A Prune Hello again folks and welcome to issue 7. Seasons come and seasons go, years pass, decades even; a millennium date change has even happened by and still the not-to-be- called-never-ending-tour, never ending tour rolls by. When this issue hits your door- mats Bob will be mid-European tour. We at Judas! central are off to see two shows in Sweden and participate in the Stockholm convention - and hope to see as many of you there as possible - before the UK tour starts, a set of dates made much more attractive by the later additions of Hammersmith and Brixton. Ah, what memories to be rekindled and hopefully new ones to savour too. Inside these pages we bring you another collection of articles that we trust you will enjoy. Again we have aimed for a balance between well known names and newcomers or relative newcomers. This is something we can only maintain if new writers keep coming forward. There’s a plea elsewhere in these pages for photographs, the same goes for new material. A few out there (you know who you are) have started articles, please keep at them, the more new writing blood in the Dylan fanzine world the better as far as I am concerned. Issue Eight will hopefully feature one or more of these, plus articles by established names. Manuel Vardavas’s bootleg column will be back again (presuming something worthy of discussion is released, that is) and it is quite likely we will be taking an in- depth look at SACD and bootleg DVDs from a ‘technology-and-its-impact-on-your- Dylan-entertainment’ standpoint. -

BOBBY CHARLES LYRICS Compiled by Robin Dunn & Chrissie van Varik. Bobby Charles was born Robert Charles Guidry on 21st February 1938 in Abbeville, Louisiana. A native Cajun himself, he recalled that his life “changed for ever” when he re-tuned his parents’ radio set from a local Cajun station to one playing records by Fats Domino. Most successful as a songwriter, he is regarded as one of the founding fathers of swamp pop. His own vocal style was laidback and drawling. His biggest successes were songs other artists covered, such as ‘See You Later Alligator’ by Bill Haley & His Comets; ‘Walking To New Orleans’ by Fats Domino - with whom he recorded a duet of the same song in the 1990s - and ‘(I Don’t Know Why) But I Do’ by Clarence “Frogman” Henry. It allowed him to live off the song-writing royalties for the rest of his life! No albums were by him released in this period. Two other well-known compositions are ‘The Jealous Kind’, recorded by Joe Cocker, and ‘Tennessee Blues’ by Kris. Disenchanted with the music business, Bobby disappeared from the music scene in the mid-1960s but returned in 1972 with a self-titled album on the Bearsville label on which he was accompanied by Rick Danko and several other members of the Band and Dr John. Bobby later made a rare live appearance as a guest singer on stage at The Last Waltz, the 1976 farewell concert of the Band, although his contribution was cut from Martin Scorsese’s film of the event. Bobby Charles returned to the studio in later years, recording a European-only album called Clean Water in 1987. -
