												  Faculty Biographies Division Coordinators and Educational Consultants2012 Summer Symposium, presented by Faculty Biographies Division Coordinators and Educational Consultants Mark Buselli Jazz Band Division Coordinator Mark Buselli is Director of Jazz Studies at Ball State University. Awards include a 2010-2011 BSU College of Fine Arts Dean’s Creative Arts Award, a Creative Renewal grant from the Indianapolis Arts Council in 2005, a teacher of the year award in 2004 at Butler University, a Creative Vision award from NUVO in May of 2007, a top 10 CD release of 2009 (December 2009) in JAZZIZ magazine for “An Old Soul,” and a top 100 CD of the decade (January 2010) in DownBeat magazine for the Buselli/Wallarab release of “Basically Baker.” Mr. Buselli has over 40 arrangements published for big bands, brass ensemble and piano/trumpet. He has nine recordings out as a leader on the Owlstudios and OA2 record labels. He has written/arranged/performed for numerous artists.Mr. Buselli currently serves as Education Director of the Buselli Wallarab Jazz Orchestra/Midcoast Swing Orchestra in Indianapolis, where he has created numerous educational opportunities for over 10,000 students. Mr. Buselli graduated from the Berklee School of Music in Boston and received his Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Indiana University. Thomas Caneva Concert Band Division Coordinator Dr. Thomas Caneva is Director of Bands, Professor of Music and Coordinator of Ensembles and Conducting at Ball State University. At Ball State, Dr. Caneva’s responsibilities include conducting the Wind Ensemble, coordinating the graduate wind conducting program, teaching undergraduate conducting and administering the entire band program. Under his direction, the Ball State University Wind Ensemble has performed at CBDNA Regional and National Conferences, the American Bandmasters Association Convention, and state and regional MENC conventions.

Eccleston 2016 i Abstract: Post-World War II in Canada was a time during which major organizations were born to foster the need for a sense of Canadian cultural identity. The Canada Council for the Arts, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the Canadian Music Centre led the initiative for commissioning, producing, and disseminating this Canadian musical legacy. Yet despite the wealth of repertoire created since then, the contemporary music of Canada is largely unknown both within and outside its borders. This annotated bibliography serves as a concise summary and evaluative resource into the breadth of concertos and solo works written for oboe, oboe d’amore, and English horn, accompanied by an ensemble. The document examines selected pieces of significance from the mid-twentieth century to present day. Entries discuss style and difficulty using the modified rating system developed by oboist Dr. Sarah J. Hamilton. In addition, details of duration, instrumentation, premiere/performance history, including dedications, commissions, program notes, reviews, publisher information and recordings are included wherever possible.

The Composers & The Music English composer and pianist richard rodney bennett (b. 1936) has written more than 200 works for the concert hall and approximately 50 film scores. In the fifties, he studied with Jim Territo (b. 1978) has his BMus in Composition from the University of Michigan. Since Lennox Berkeley and Howard Ferguson at the Royal Academy of Music; spent summers at Graduating in 2001, he has been regularly composing and arranging for bands, orchestras, choirs, Darmstadt; and in 1957, Bennett received a grant from the French government that enabled him theater productions, and chamber groups. Several of his works for band are available through to study with Boulez for two years. However, his expressionistic style seems to derive more from Jalen/Matrix Publishing. He lives in the Detroit area, where he teaches music theory as well as Berg than from Boulez. In 1995, Bennett moved to New York and his interest in jazz led him to elementary and high school band at Detroit Country Day School.
