Qatar Charity delivers aid to remote areas of Kenya

ith the generous support of benefactors in the State of Qatar, Qatar Charity W(QC) has managed to expand its reach across remote and isolated areas of Kenya, where the charity managed to deliver aid to those in need, despite the difficult road conditions. Qatar Charity’s office in Kenya places its emphasis on the poorest regions of the country, where the office managed to provide emergency aid to those affected by drought and rain in the area of Tana River and the north and northeast provinces of Kenya. During the year 2018, Qatar Charity has managed to make very significant achievements, as it implemented 187 economic empowerment projects, carried out 12 relief campaigns, and drilled 29 surface and artesian wells. Also, the number of those sponsored by the charity reached 4,500 people, including orphans, teachers, poor families, and persons with special needs. Qatar Charity’s achievements also include 4 schools, 5 multi-service centers and 5 social projects, which involve the construction of houses for a number of poor families. More than 750,000 people benefited from these projects in many provinces of the country. Last year, Qatar Charity also provided urgent relief aid to the flood and drought-hit people in the affected areas including Tana River and the north and north-eastern provinces of the country, where 18,660 food baskets, 8,800 meat packages, and 250 clothing baskets have been distributed, benefiting nearly 130,000 people. The office also carried out a number of activities for orphans, including recreational activities, summer camp, World Orphans Day celebrations, and Qatar National Day celebrations, in addition to honoring outstanding orphans on this day. Since its opening in 2015, Qatar Charity’s office has implemented hundreds of programmes, projects and activities, most notably in the field of humanitarian relief for refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and flood victims. The office has also carried out projects in the fields of education, water and economic empowerment for needy families in different parts of Kenya.
