Tim Heidecker announces What The Brokenhearted Do…, his bittersweet new album out June 7th via Jagjaguwar. He also presents the video for the jaunty, Nilsson-nodding single and live favorite “When I Get Up,” perhaps one of the most joyful tunes about crushing depression ever put to tape. The video presents a scene of Heidecker approaching a director with his elaborate idea for the video.

For the last three years, Heidecker has been waging a hellish war upon the current presidential administration and its shady minions. Whether because of his unrelenting prodding of Trump, his spot-on impersonation of Info Wars’s Alex Jones or his well of caustic Trump protest songs, Heidecker has found himself in the crosshairs of the online alt-right community. At some point, one of those Incel or QAnon trolls started a vicious rumor that Tim’s wife had, in fact, left him, and the rumor caught fire across certain social channels. Instead of getting pissed off, our protagonist (antagonist?) Tim Heidecker got inspired. He knows full well that here in the music biz, nothing breeds good tunes like utter heartbreak. For What The Brokenhearted Do…, Heidecker imagined himself going through an awful divorce and let the hits flow.

What The Brokenhearted Do… was produced by Jonathan Rado (Weyes Blood, Whitney, Father John Misty). It follows the Another Year In Hell: Collected Songs from 2018 EP, released earlier this year, and 2016’s acclaimed Too Dumb For Suicide. Recalling Neil Young, George Harrison, and Warren Zevon (sometimes all at once), these songs find a completely shattered man crawling through the sewage pipe of divorce.

Heidecker is currently on the At The Cinema Live Tour with . The first On Cinema hardbound guide, Brandan Kearney's Official On Cinema at The Cinema Reader Volume 1: 2010-2018, is due out June 28th via Drag City. Every week, Heidecker takes your questions, comments, and complaints live via his "Office Hours" podcast. And, of course, he stars in one of the biggest films of the year, ’s Us.
