Here is that Supplement. For quite somettme various departments of the Government of India as well as of the State Government, and, many learned organisations of the country had been pressing us to supply them with a list of viJJages classified by certain ranges of population sizes fOT purposes of planning. Some desired to know the percentage of population living in such various categories of villages. There were demands from many quarters for simultaneous exposure of population figures at the village and town level for the 1961 and 1971 Censuses to have a quick idea about the growth in population during the decade. We have tried to meet all these demands on this organisation in this Supplement and we hope that the information presented here will be found 10 be helpful. U. B. MATHUR Deputy Director, Census Operations, Rajasthan STATEMENT -I VILLAGES CLASSIFIED BY POPULATION SIZES TH ERE ARE 35,795 villages in the state of which 33,305 are inhabited. These villages are of various popu lation sizes. This statement shows the classification of individual villages by sizes. Villages have been presented tehsilwise and accor ding to the various population sizes viz. less than 200; 200-499; 500-999; 1000-1999; 2000-4999; 5000-9999; and 10000 & above. In each population range villages appear in the ascending order of their Census location code numbers. The following may be kept in view : 1. The fjgure jn brackets after the population size denotes the total number of villages in that particular population range. 2. The viHage names are preceeded by their Cen sus location code numbers. 3. The figure within brackets after the village names indicates the 1961 population while the figure after the brackets denotes the 1971 population. The 1961 Census figure has been provided to help appreciate the growth of population during the decade. 4. Where village names, due to their large sizes, could not be fully accommodated in the list. an abbreviated form has been used and the full name given in a footnote. 5. The population sizes with no entries have been omitted. 6. The villages found unpopulated in 1961 Census have been marked with a dagger within a bracket (t) while the new villages for which population figures are not available for 1961 Census have been marked with an asterisk within a bracket (*). 7. Unpopulated villages of 1971 Census alongwith their code numbers have also been separately listed at the end of each tehsil. VILLAGES CLASSIFIED BY POPULATION SIZES DISTRICT: 1.
