PERRY CAMPBELL NAMED VICE PRESIDENT OF QUALITY, AMERICAN WOODMARK

WINCHESTER, VA, June 14, 2006 – American Woodmark Corporation (AWC)

(NASDAQ: AMWD), a leading supplier of cabinetry to the new home construction and remodeling industries, announced today that Perry Campbell has been promoted to vice president, quality. In this position, Campbell is responsible for the Company’s entire quality function, including the Corporate Quality Organization. Campbell reports directly to Tom

Alkire, vice president, product development and quality.

Campbell joined American Woodmark in June 2004 as plant manager of the Allegany,

Md. assembly facility. He was directly involved in the plant’s construction and opening efforts

and continues to work with the plant to smoothly transition to a new plant manager. Prior to

joining American Woodmark, Campbell served one year as vice president, operations, for Bea

Maurer in Fairfield, Va. Previously, he worked with Alcoa (Reynold’s Metals) for 13 years in

positions of increasing scope and responsibility, from industrial engineer to plant manager.

Campbell earned a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in industrial engineering from

Tech.
