Three day residential Annual Balvikas Summer Camp held at Munnar with active participation of 120 students and parents. 2. Idol procession held at Munnar and Thodupuzha samithis. 3. Swatch bharath program at Munnar in accordance with summer camp. 4. Two RVTC programs started at Thodupuzha samithy. 5. Three new Balvikas started at Muttom, Manacad and Sasthampara. 6. EHV program at CSI School Adimali by Shri. Purushothaman 7. District Bal vikas gurus training at Thodupuzha samithy by Smt. Radha Ramesh. 8. Veda training at Thodupuzha samithy by Smt. Radha Ramesh. 9. SSVIP program started at Sasthampara by Manacad and Thodupuzha samithis. 10. Idol visit to devotee’s home and bhajan by all samithis. 11. Sat hya Sai Tribal educare program at Chembakkad, inside Chinnar wild life sanctuary. 12. Essay writing program at Tribal schools. 13. Sai Youth Idukki has been awarded for the tremendous work done during Kerala flood 2018 by Govt. of Kerala. With the grace of our Bhagavan, honourable state President Shri. Mukundan sir has visit our district on 26 th May 2019 including a district office bearers meeting at Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithy Manacad with a participation of 75 members including 10 district in charges and 5 Samithy convenors. State EHV coordinator Shri. Purushothaman, state Mahila coordinator Smt. Geetha Mukundan and district President Shri. Sajeev S presided over the meeting. The main focus of the meeting was to upgrade all Samithy activities from the current situation. With the valuable guidance from Mukundan sir, we have achieved the following things in this quarter with bhagavan’s bliss July-November Important Programs Conducted during July -November 1. 33 devotees were participated from district for July Prashanthy seva 2. District President has donated weaving machines to Thodupuzha RVTC students 3. Two SSVIP programs are started in Kovilmala and Upputhara tri bal colonies. 4. STUDY materials were provided for 54 students in Kovilmala tribal colony. 5. Sai Youth Idukki has conducted a flood relief camp at Kanchiyar during August rain. 6. Inauguration of Memari tribal area SSVIP and distribution of Onam kit to 96 families. 7. Onam kit distribution to 108 estate employees in Munnar 8. Munnar Samithy has send flood relief materials to Wayanad 9. Under vidya Vahini program 20 students were supported by Munnar Samithy 10. Flood relief materials of Rs 50000 were collected and distributed along the district . 11. Professor Department Of Economics Christ College, Puliuyanmala, Kerala, India ABSTRACT Spices have a very important role in the domestic & foreign market. Pepper, ’The King of Spices’ has a significant export orientation and it procures more than 40% of the foreign exchange earnings in spices export. At present pepper production shows the decreasing trend. India’s share in world pepper production declined from 23.69 percent in 1970 -1971 to 12.38 percent in 2016 – 2017. The study is confined to Idukki district only because most of the pepper production is from Idukki district. This study aims at provides an understanding of the structure and functioning of the pepper plantation and its development problems. The data and other information required for the study were collected from both primary and secondary sources. This study relies growers are losing their confidence in pepper cultivation mainly on account of its non-remunerative nature and climatic changes. Key Word: - Pepper, production, productivity, Yield 1. INTRODUCTION The richness of the culture and the fragrance of the spices were the major sources of glory of the ancient India. It is really amazing to see that India could maintain her supremacy in the production and trade of spices even from the Vedic age dating back to 6000 BC, to the modern era of the 3rd millennium. India, known all over the world as the land of spices, has the most favourable climate and soil conditions for growing spices and is the most important among spices producing countries in the world.

ABSTRACT Accurate and timely identification of invasive insect pests underpins most biological endeav- ors ranging from biodiversity estimation to insect pest management. In this regard, identifica- tion of thrips, an invasive insect pest is important and challenging due to their complex life cycles, parthenogenetic mode of reproduction, sex and color morphs. In the recent years, DNA barcoding employing 5′ region of the mitochondrial Cytochrome Oxidase I (CO-I) gene has be- come a popular tool for species identification. In this study, we employed CO-I gene sequences for discriminating 151 species of thrips for the first time. Analyses of the intraspecific and intrageneric distances of the CO-I sequences ranged from 0.0 to 7.91% and 8.65% to 31.15% re- spectively.
