The margin of victory was a lot less from their first meeting. The Sabres were missing starting guard Jeff Dunn, but managed to hold their own against the Volcanoes. Cory Largent with 31 points and sank a half court buzzer shot to close out the game. Other high scorers were Mike Taylor with 18, Sergio Rosario with 16, Joe Burton 14, Daniel Dean 11 and Anthony Sanchez with 10. Daniel Dean had 15 rebounds Joe Burton 14 and Cory Largent and Anthony Sanchez both had 9 each. The rest of the Sabres took up the slack against the Kitsap Admirals and controlled the game from start to finish. Mike Taylor led the way with 32, Daniel Deane 19, Daniel Dean 22, Sergio Rosario with 19, Joe Burton 18 and Kyle Long with 15. Joe Burton had 21 rebounds and Daniel Deane followed up with 11. The Salem Sabres will play the Vancouver Volcanoes May 17th and then host the Portland Chinooks on May 18th. Both games are at 7pm and played at Chemeketa Community College. Deion played Point Guard for 4 years at Fair Park High School in Shreveport, Louisiana and led his team to the State Championship (second in school history and first since 1963). Last Season (2011-2012) Deion began his Professional Basketball career with the Cleveland Havok of the UBA in Cleveland, Texas. Deion lead the Team to the Western Conference Title and UBA Semi- Finals in the team's Expansion Season averaging 20 points 6 rebounds and 8 assists a game. Chinooks huddled around coach Trevor Kiser accompanied by owner Terry Emmert Falling down 8-0 to start the game, the home team couldn't shake their opponent. Trailing 31-26 at the end of twelve minutes, Portland scored the first eight points of the second frame. When David Lucas (6'8” F Oregon State) hit a three-pointer a few minutes in, the Chinooks had their first lead, 34-31. Numerous ties followed over the coming minutes before a 22-11 Sabres run to close the half put the visitors up 65-56 at the break. The Chinooks widdled the deficit to three midway through the third. Salem pushed it to nine early in the fourth before Portland wiped it all away with a 9-0 advantage to send things to timeout tied at 99 two minutes in. Halfway through the period, the game was still tied at 110 before the Sabres roared back with a 12-2 run to leave town with their first win of the season. Portland falls to 7-3 and a game and a half out of first place. Salem is 1-3 coming back to Eastmoreland next week. Jared Cunningham (6'9” F Cleveland State) delivered another all-around game with 28 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
