Singapore Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Situation Report Weekly report for the week ending 25 July 2021 Singapore Situation summary • As of 25 July 2021, there have been a total of 64 179 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Singapore. • In the week ending 25 July 2021: o A total of 1106 new cases were reported, a 190.3% increase compared to the previous week. Of the new cases reported, 1060 cases (95.8%) were local cases linked to the community or migrant worker dormitories, while 46 cases were imported. o One new death of an 83-year-old Singaporean female was reported on 24 July. She had a history of hypertension and hyperlipidaemia. She was linked to the 121 Bukit Merah View cluster. She was not vaccinated against COVID-19. In total, Singapore has reported 37 COVID- 19 deaths and a case fatality rate of 0.06%. o There are 25 active clusters, with 10 clusters newly reported. As of 25 July, the Jurong Fishery Port – Hong Lim Market & Food Centre is the largest active cluster (792 cases), followed by the KTV lounge/club clusters (237 cases). o There are 522 COVID-19 cases warded in hospital, as of 25 July, with 12 cases requiring oxygen supplementation and two cases admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). o The percentage of unlinked cases at the time of reporting was 20.0%, up from 8.7% in the previous epidemiological week. • As of 24 July 2021, a total of 4 230 379 residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 3 020 766 individuals, or approximately 53% of the total population, have been fully vaccinated under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme. An estimated 71% of those aged 70 years and above have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Upcoming events and priorities • Effective 22 July to 18 August 2021, Singapore has reverted to Phase 2 (Heightened Alert), following the detection of more COVID-19 clusters in the community. Therefore, stricter public health and social measures will be in effect during this period. Authorities have urged all individuals, especially elderly people, to refrain from visiting crowded places or carrying out extensive social interactions. • Because elderly people often frequent wet markets and hawker centres, in the coming weeks, authorities aim to progressively introduce the TraceTogether-only SafeEntry and SafeEntry Gateway check-in requirements at these venues. • Further information regarding the COVID-19 situation in Singapore can be obtained from the Ministry of Health (MOH) website. Daily situation reports produced by the MOH can be viewed here. 1 of 3 1 Singapore Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Situation Report Weekly report for the week ending 25 July 2021 National transmission assessment National transmission stage assessment: Stage 2 – Localized community cases (moderate confidence)1 Week 29 (19–25 July 2021) There has been a 190.3% increase in the number of reported cases in Singapore for the week ending 25 July 2021, with 1106 cases reported in the last seven days compared to 381 cases reported the previous week. Of the newly reported cases, 1060 cases (95.8%) were detected in the community. The increase in community cases has been attributed to the Jurong Fishery Port – Hong Lim Market & Food Centre cluster. To date, the cluster has recorded a total of 792 cases. On 24 July, Singapore confirmed one new COVID-19 death in an unvaccinated 83-year-old Singaporean female linked to the 121 Bukit Merah View cluster. Subsequently, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Singapore has increased to 37, with a case fatality rate of 0.06%. Currently, two cases are undergoing treatment in the ICU. Ten new COVID-19 clusters were reported in the week ending 25 July, bringing the total number of active clusters in Singapore to 25. Strategic approach Testing and surveillance • Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases detected in the community, the MOH is offering free testing for all individuals working in these selected locations: o Marina Bay Sands Casino (10 Bayfront Ave, Singapore 018956) o Haig Road Market & Food Centre (14 Haig Rd, Singapore 430014) o Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre (448 Clementi Ave 3, Singapore 120448) o 456 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 – from 25 to 26 July o 340 Clementi Avenue 5 – 25 to 26 July o 842, 844, 846 and 848 HDB blocks on Sims Avenue – 22 to 23 July o Geylang Bahru Market and Food Centre (69 Geylang Bahru) – 26 to 27 July o 146 Teck Whye Avenue Market (146 Teck Whye Lane) – 26 to 27 July. • The MOH has listed the markets and food centres linked to the Jurong Fishery Port – Hong Lim Market & Food Centre cluster.
