These corrections balance the number of people between wards and ensure wards are designed to have identifiable boundaries, reflect neighbourhoods’ borders and take into account communities with common interests. The biggest corrections in ward boundaries are being proposed for Wards 9, 10, 11 and 12. The recommended corrections address population optimization in wards approaching maximum populations within the City, in particular Wards 9 and 12. These population and elector ranges are established by City Policy. Current ranges based on the 2014 Edmonton Census are: Optimum Ward population: 54,871 to 95,201 Optimum Ward elector population: 38,991 to 64,985 The following are the recommended ward boundary corrections for Wards 9 and 10: • Brander Gardens, Ramsay Heights, Rhatigan Ridge, Bulyea Heights, and Brookside - will move from Ward 9 to Ward 10. The Returning Officer has arranged consultation sessions to get input from residents and from organizations that could be impacted including the Edmonton Public School Board, the Edmonton Separate School Board, the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues, the Millwoods Presidents Council and the Terwillegar Riverbend Advisory Council.
