ou are able to place a Memorial Wooden YBench with an inscribed plaque.

This can be at selected locations in either Mitcham Road , Queen’s Road Cemetery or Greenlawn Memorial Park (Warlingham), or in our Gardens of Remembrance.

The timber mostly used is Iroko, which is comparable with teak. It is extremely hard and resistant to all weather conditions.

Our supplier aims not to contribute to rain forest destruction and the 6’ timber benches are constructed from non-tropical and sustainable wood which guarantees the protection of the local ecology.

Croydon Bereavement Services will place the bench at an agreed location. A total of two inscribed bronze plaques, each measuring 30cms x 6.25cms can be purchased to dedicate the bench. On request we can teak oil or varnish the bench for you. If left to weather naturally, it will maintain an attractive silver-grey colour, without detriment to the timber.

The benches are placed on a paved base and as a security precaution we use a galvanised steel-fixing bracket.

Dedications are for an initial period of fifteen years. Staff are available at the Crematorium office to advise you on availability and current prices.

MEMORIAL WOODEN BENCH CONDITIONS On payment of the required fee, the registered memorial owner is permitted to dedicate a plaque to be placed on a memorial wooden bench for an initial lease period of fifteen years. The Borough of has no legal responsibility to replace the plaque if stolen or missing; the cost of replacement would have to be met by the registered memorial owner. The fee paid covers the provision of the plaque, suitably inscribed. The London Borough of Croydon reserves the right to alter the design of the Gardens or re-locate the benches as may be required. The owner of the bench will have the opportunity, at the end of the dedication period, to renew the dedication, subject to conditions at the time. Payments may be made for a minimum of 15 years and for up to 30 years on a pro-rata basis. On expiry of the dedication period the London Borough of Croydon may remove and dispose of the plaque. NOTE: the placing of flower containers, potted plants or floral tributes is not permitted in the Garden of Remembrance. The planting of bulbs, flowers, shrubs etc around the bench is not permitted.
