MINUTES of the meeting of Monday, 28 May 2001, from 3 pm – 8 pm Tuesday, 29 May 2001, from 9 am – 10.30 am BRUSSELS
On Monday, 28 May 2001, the meeting opened at 3.05 pm with Christa Randzio-Plath, chairwoman, in the chair.
1. Adoption of draft agenda PE 296.023
The draft agenda was adopted. The chair draws attention to the votes after the monetary dialogue and the annual report on competition policy with M. Monti tomorrow.
2. Chairman's announcements:
The chair informs members on: - latest developments regarding the Lamfalussy report and in particular on a meeting of a committee delegation with Commissioner Bolkestein on 16 May 2001 in Strasbourg - the deadlines for the opinions of MM. Pierre Jonckheer, Othmar Karas and Christopher Huhne on Czechia, Hungary and Poland (Wednesday, 6 June 2001) - an information meeting organised with the ECB on cross-border payments scheduled to take place on 27 June 2001, 9 am – 10.30 am - an extraordinary committee meeting to be held in Strasbourg on 12 June 2001, 6 pm - 7 pm .
3. Approval of minutes of the meetings of:
27 February 2001 in Brussels PE 295.992 21 + 22 March 2001 in Brussels PE 296.009 10 + 11 April 2001 in Brussels PE 296.008 2 May 2001 in Brussels PE 296.018 The minutes were approved.

5. Monetary Dialogue with the ECB (art. 113.3 of the EU Treaty)
Exchange of views with Mr Duisenberg, President of the ECB.

Robert Goebbels announces that his amendments are withdrawn . Karl von Wogau suggests voting en bloc. Astrid Lulling favours this procedure in the interest of speed. The draft report is adopted unanimously.
