National White Water Centre Conditions of Use

Please read this declaration. Be sure that you fully understand and agree to abide by the declaration before you sign. (Please ask for clarification of any points that you find unclear before signing.)

• I am signing in as part of an experienced raft race team. I am sufficiently experienced to raft on grade 3 without a guide and I can self-rescue. The majority of the team have previous competitive experience on grade 3 or higher White Water. I understand any team found not be of the required standard will be asked to get off the water and seek training prior to returning.

• The team has the capability (training and equipment) to deal with a pinned raft and other river incidents.

• I understand that rafts are relatively heavy and have the potential to cause significant harm to other river users. I will therefore aim to maintain control of the raft to avoid collisions.

• Race training is acceptable but must not interfere with other water users.

• I understand that rafts must break out upstream of Ski slope to visually check the stopper is clear before committing to the rapid (alternatively, a spotter can check for you and signal you straight through if the way is clear).

• The river right eddy and groin immediately downstream of Miss Davies’ bridge must be clear of rafts before committing to this rapid.

• In signing this document I acknowledge that I have read the Water Information Board, understand the level of the flow and difficulty of the River Tryweryn and I confirm that I am sufficiently experienced to raft in this environment.

• I understand that there are assumed risks with all activities on the River Tryweryn including and all associated activities. I accept that risk.

• I have read and agree to abide by these Conditions of Use when on the River Tryweryn.

• I understand that the River Tryweryn below the NWWC does not benefit from inspections for hazards or the automatic removal of any hazards that come to light.

• I am sufficiently experienced and equipped to use such a river.

• I do not knowingly suffer from any medical condition which might render me unfit to on or use the River Tryweryn.

• I understand that the National White Water Centre is unable to accept any liability in respect of loss or damage to property however caused, at the National White Water Centre.

• Access and egress for the lower river are from the Canolfan Tryweryn site and the fire station car park in Bala only. Please do not access or egress at any other point on the river.

• The Centre Staff reserve the right to refuse participation to anyone considered to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Wales (CW) and the NWWC recognise the need to ensure the welfare and safety of all young people in Paddlesport. In the event that you do not consent to the above statement please request and complete a non-consent of image use form.

• All persons signing will have day membership except for current UK Paddlesport Governing Body members.

• I understand that by using the shuttle service, I must adhere to the Paddler Shuttle Terms and Conditions, please ask for a copy of these from reception.
