Athlete Biography

In 2007, Chloe Esposito made history as the youngest Australian female modern pentathlete to compete at an Olympic quali῍er but she missed out on a spot for .

Four years on and with plenty of experience under her belt Esposito quali῍ed for the 2012 London Olympics where her 7th place ῍nished secured her the best result by an Australian female since the sport was opened to both genders in 2000.

After the 2013 and 2014 seasons were interrupted with foot and shoulder injuries Esposito bounced back to top form in 2015 ῍nishing in the top ten in three world class events prior to the Olympic Quali῍er.

Esposito booked her ticket to her second straight Olympic Games after ῍nishing 4th in the Asia/Oceania Championships in Beijing, securing her spot after being the top ranked Oceania athlete. She has been preparing for Rio with altitude training in Mexico in July.

Modern Pentathlon is certainly a family a䷤air for the Espositos. Chloe's father and coach Daniel competed at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, while she will be joined by her younger brother Max in Rio after he also quali῍ed by winning the Asia/Oceania Championships. Her sister Emily is a shooter who competed at the 2010 Youth Olympics in Singapore and 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Max Esposito

Athlete Biography

Following in the footsteps of his father Daniel and sister Chloe, Max Esposito took up Modern Pentathlon at the age of 13 after playing a variety of sports as a youngster.

He won gold at both the 2013 Oceania Championships in Kazakhstan and at the 2014 International Youth A Championships in Great Britain giving him the opportunity to get his rst taste of the Olympics at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Games.

Esposito claimed 17th in the individual event in Nanjing before nishing 12th as a part of the mixed-relay. He continued to impress on the international stage in early 2015 with some strong results in senior competition that included 6th in the Kremlin Cup.

Full of condence, Esposito headed to Beijing for the Asia/Oceania Championships where he defeated the best pentathletes in the region, winning the event and securing his position alongside his sister Chloe on the Australian Team for the Rio 2016 Games

Max’s coach and father Daniel competed at the 1984 Los Angeles Games while his sister Chloe made her Olympic debut at the 2012 London Games. His other sister Emily is a talented shooter who just missed Rio Olympic selection.
