Marriages/Banns, Chardstock and All Saints © Chardstock Historical Record Group (CHRG) 2019 E-mail: [email protected] MARRIAGES - CHARDSTOCK St ANDREW’S CHURCH AND ALL SAINTS CHURCH Welcome to our revised layout. All information relating to marriages is now grouped into a single file of three parts: Part 1 Marriages at St Andrew’s Church, Chardstock (pages 2 - 271) Part 2 Marriages at All Saints Church (pages 272 - 325) Part 3 All additional information on marriages concerning Chardstock and All Saints (pages 325 - 386) All transcripts were made by CHRG members from the Bishop’s Transcripts held at Wiltshire Record Office for the period 1579 to 1582 and from the original Parish Registers held at Devon Records Office for the period 1597 to 1968. Transcriptions prior to 31.12.1938 cover the complete entry in the Parish Register, while those from 1.1.1939 to 31.12.1968 are restricted to the date of the ceremony and the names of the bride and groom. No marriages are posted on the site after 1.1.1969. We do, however, hold full transcriptions for all baptisms after 31.12.1938. Should you wish to be provided with any information for this period, please contact us by E-mail [email protected] and include a brief explanation of why you wish this information to be supplied to you. When using this site, searchers should be aware that abbreviations have been avoided wherever possible and full stops have not been used in names, thus Wm C. Watts in the register appears as William C Watts. This measure is designed to assist word searching. Also in cases where other research has produced an alternative to the transcribed version, that alternative is shown alongside the transcribed version in [ ] brackets, provided the alternative has an equal or greater likelihood of being the correct or preferred version. Considerable efforts are made to ensure a high degree of accuracy, but errors can sometimes occur and other sources of information can question or enhance that shown in this transcription. Should this occur, please contact us on [email protected] and we will do our best to resolve the matter PART 1: MARRIAGES AT ST ANDREW’S CHURCH FROM 1579 Period 1579 TO 1582 from Bishop’s Transcripts • Chardstock Baptisms to 1879
CHARDSTOCK ST. ANDREWS CHURCH - BAPTISMS Source: Chardstock Parish Registers and Bishop’s Transcripts Dates: 1579 to 1582 from Bishop’s Transcripts 1597 to 1846 transcripts from Parish Registers, except periods March 1707 to April 1713, July 1713 to August 1714 and August 1714 to June 1716 for which no records are available. 1847 to 1879 transcripts have been taken from photocopies of the Bishop’s Transcripts of the Chardstock Parish Registers, held in Wiltshire Records Office. Where these were unclear, they have been checked against microfiches of the originals, held in Devon Records Office, and altered as appropriate. There are a number of inconsistencies between the two versions; for instance Susan Cozins in the Bishop’s Transcript appears as Susan Cousins in the Parish Register. The Wiltshire records for years 1850, 1856, 1858 1862, 1864, 1865, 1868, 1871, 1873 and 1876 are missing, either because they were not copied originally or because they have been lost. These gaps have been made good from the Devon Records Office, and are included within this transcript. Both Parish Registers and Bishop’s Transcripts are given for the years 1847, 1848, 1849 and 1850. The researcher is strongly advised to consult the original copies at Wiltshire or Devon Record Office, and use these transcriptions only as a guide to what these sources contain. When using this site, the following points should also be borne in mind: Abbreviations have been avoided wherever possible and full stops have not been used in names, thus Wm C. Watts in the register appears as William C Watts. This measure is designed to assist word search software programmes.

Ward Yarty Reference 20/0375/FUL Applicant Mrs Gill Keam Location Fordings Chardstock Axminster EX13 7BW Proposal Construction of pitch roof and dormer window to existing garage for the conversion and provision of ancillary living accommodation. RECOMMENDATION: Approval with conditions Crown Copyright and database rights 2020 Ordnance Survey 100023746 Committee Date: 4th November 2020 Yarty Target Date: (Chardstock) 20/0375/FUL 12.06.2020 Applicant: Mrs Gill Keam Location: Fordings Chardstock Proposal: Construction of pitch roof and dormer window to existing garage for the conversion and provision of ancillary living accommodation. RECOMMENDATION: Approval with conditions EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This application has been referred to Committee following a Chairman’s Delegation meeting so that Members can consider the impacts from the ancillary accommodation on the area. The application proposes the conversion and upward extension of an existing garage to form ancillary living accommodation. The application does not propose a separate dwelling and if consent were granted, planning permission would be required for the building to be used as a dwelling independent of the Fordings. The site lies with the AONB, adjoins the Conservation Area and is adjacent to two listed buildings. The applicant is not required to demonstrate a need for the extension or to justify its size (although they have advised it is to enable the applicant to care for an elderly parent), and it is for Members to consider the physical and visual impact from the extension that represents additional living accommodation for the main house, albeit in a detached form. The main impacts are from the addition of the roof, dormer window and changes to the appearance of the garage.

  • Floor 1. 1685 – 1958. Case Objects and Descriptions
Floor 1. 1685 – 1958. Case objects and descriptions COVID-19 Please remember as you go around the Museum: Use the one-way system indicated by the signs around the Museum (except in the event of an emergency). Use the hand sanitisers that are available at reception, the toilets and at the entrance to each floor. Avoid touching any surfaces around the Museum or getting too close to the glass fronts of the cases. Please wear a face covering at all times (unless you are exempt from doing so). Keep your distance from other visitors, staff and volunteers. 2 Introduction Thank you for visiting the Keep Military Museum! Due to COVID-19, we have had to remove some of our interactive elements and interpretation to ensure the safety of staff and visitors. This includes our ‘paddles’ which provide information on the wonderful objects you will see around the Museum. We have produced this booklet to help you find out more about the objects as you go round the Museum. There is a guide to each floor with information on cases and objects, which are individually numbered. Some cases have labels in them so these do not appear in this booklet. We hope you enjoy your visit to the Keep Military Museum. 3 First Floor Map: 1685 - 1958 Welcome to the First Floor! Please follow the route clockwise around the floor. You will exit through the same door to go up to the Second Floor. 4 Case: Plassey 1. Uniform of a 11th Foot, Devonshire Regiment 2. The Arcot Staff: presented to Lord Robert Clive to commemorate the Battle of Plassey 1757.

An interesting time-- Baldwin's brought out a few from their vast storage, DNW had 1000 lots of tokens, with a ton of duplication and most everything in nice condition. In fact, over all, the tokens in the DNW sale from beginning to end were of super quality. Not all perfection, but quite a few were, prices for them a bit high but for most, considering the vast number of pieces offered, were reasonable. Hardly anything sold for under £120 (US $240), with other costs this made a really nice but fairly common piece at least $250. I saw the same pricing in trays at the shows, so the new reality is higher prices, but the old line can be held in spots. In many places what I have in the past charged for a token in dollars, was now being charged in pounds. This was noted by some UK dealers, but there were bargains to be had. Now, the present listing. As I have everything I buy shipped home, this list by necessity is done before I leave for the UK. It contains the usual run of nice EF-AU-UNC material, a few more Spence than usual, and some really rare great pieces.
