Our target is to raise as much as we can so that we can buy a wonderful outdoor classroom to be built in the woods which will be used by the whole school.

WE NEED : Toys and books - they can be left in the sports hall entrance from Monday 16th June

SWEET bags - please fill the sweet bags with lots of yummy sweets - a real favourite with the Children!! (they will be in the children’s book bags on Friday 13th and can be left in the sports hall from Monday 16th)

7th and 8th JUNE 2014 SAXONS ORIENTEERING CLUB INVITE YOU TO A WEEKEND OF ORIENTEERING DELIGHT IN HISTORIC , KENT

PRELIMINARY DETAILS

SATURDAY 7TH JUNE 2014 – starts from 1.30 – 3.30 A two part sprint race will be planned on Tunbridge Wells Common on Saturday afternoon. This will involve a two sided map. One side will have a line course, the other a score. The format will require the runners to complete the line course, turn over and then do a score course. The controls for the score course can be taken in any order, but all will be compulsory. There will be short and long courses in this format. Adult fee will be £7 (or £9 if you are not a member of British Orienteering), Additionally there will be a junior line-only course. The junior rate will be £3. More information, regarding courses, times and start location will be available in the final details.

SUNDAY 8TH JUNE 2014 – starts from 10.30 – 12.30 The inaugural Tunbridge Wells Urban Orienteering Event will be held on the morning of Sunday 8thJune. This event will form part of the 2014 Nopesport Urban Orienteering League and the 2014 Southern Urban Orienteering League. The senior rate will be £10 (or £12 if you are not a member of British Orienteering. Juniors (16 to 20 years old) will pay £5. This event will raise money for the Hospice in the Weald, Tunbridge Wells.

COURSES: Course 1: Men Open (M16 – M35) – 8k-9k approx. Course 2: Veteran Men (M40+), Women Open (W16 – W35) – 7k approx. Course 3: Super Vet Men (M55+), Veteran Women (W40+) – 5k–6k approx. Course 4: Ultra Vet Men (M65+), Super Vet Women (W55+) – 4k-5k approx. Course 5: Ultra Vet Women (W65+) – 3k-4k approx. (All subject to final controlling) Newcomer’s course: 6k approx The Newcomer’s course is for complete beginners to orienteering, run or walk the course – if you can read a street map, you can do this course. Pairs or families welcome with children, however young people under 16 years of age, cannot compete on their own (see below). Family fee will be £12.50. Enter on the day as a family, but please email the organiser if you know you are coming and competing as a family group. Unfortunately the area is not suitable for competitors who are under 16, due to insurance policy restrictions, as there are too many busy roads close to the start.

The race event centre will be at Calverley Grounds at the southern end of Tunbridge Wells town centre. (TN1 1QY). There are many nearby car parks/public toilets and a café in Calverley Grounds. There will also be a large tent in which to leave bags. The train station is about 5 minutes away from the event centre.
