Setting Up Sync for Ms Outlook

Google Apps Sync for ® allows you to use Microsoft Outlook® 2007 and 2010 effectively with ;Google Apps to synchronize Email, Calendar, Contacts, Notes, and Tasks. You get the cost savings, security and reliability of Google Apps, while employees can use the interface they prefer for email, contacts, calendar and notes.

• Your Outlook Journal entries will not synchronize with Google Apps. • Google Apps Sync will initially download up to 1GB of email from the Google Apps Server to your desktop. You can change this setting from the system tray menu. This behavior can be change via the Google Apps sync tool. • Your initial sync can take a long time, because there's a lot of email to download. To see your synchronization status, look at synchronization status in your system tray. • Synchronization will occur as follows:

 Email: Every Minute  Calendar: Immediately after you create a meeting, or every 10 minutes  Contacts: Every 20 minutes  Global Address List: Every 24 hours  Notes: Immediately after creating or changing a note, or every 60 minutes  Tasks: Every 24 hours

Step 1: To download Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook, please visit: http://www.google.com/apps/outlook- sync.

Click on the ‘Download Google Apps Sync’ button to being the process. Follow the on screen instructions to install the tool.

Step 2: Once installed, you will be asked to enter your email address and password. Before proceeding, please login to My.Fordham > Employee Tab and click on the ‘ POP/IMAP Password Synch …’ link.

Step 3: Click on the disclaimer to proceed with syncing your password with Google.

Step 4: Enter your AccessIT ID Username and Password (My.fordham credentials) and click the confirm button.

Step 5: Return to the Google Apps Sync for Ms Outlook Setup to complete the configuration. Enter your Fordham email address and AccessIT password. Click Continue to proceed.

Step 6: Google will now establish an Outlook profile for your account. Click Create Profile to proceed.

Step 7: Click Start Microsoft Outlook.

Step 8: Outlook will prompt to select a profile. Please select “…@fordham.edu” and click ‘set as default profile’ to continue.

Step 9: To change the default mailbox size, right click on the Google Apps Sync icon in the task tray and choose ‘Set Mailbox Size.’ Recommend users change the default to 4GB.

Step 10: This completes the setup fo the Google Apps Sync for Ms Outllok. Notice the Google Apps Sync pop up and tray icon in the system tray.
