Since the beginning of our activity, we represent on the French and European travel market, several luxury island hotels and resorts, inbound travel agencies, yacht charter companies … all located on various islands around the world. During this time, MDI International has represented, on the French and European market: • Luxury hotels (some clients: Anonyme Island Resort in the Seychelles, Guana Island in the British Virgin Islands, Maravu Plantation Resort in the Fiji Islands, ...) • Inbound agencies (some clients: Worldlink Travel Ltd. In the Maldives, Orgateam Grenada Ltd. on the island of Grenada, ...) • One sailboat rental company (Transporte Turistico Maritimo JP in Los Roques, Venezuela) Since the beginning, we are also the official representation office for the St. Helena Island on the French and German speaking markets. We have acquired a good reputation and experience in luxury travel and island destinations, both market "niches" in which we offer to promote the Exclusive Island Hotels & Resorts collection. We work on this project since 2001, encouraged by the keen interest of many hotel professionals and discerning travellers. It is a fact that since many years, several prestigious leading hotel groups already federate the best establishments in the world, but none of them has created an alliance exclusively for the hotels on islands. That’s the reason why we have worked on such a project, during several years (time needed to visit the hotels) to be able now to introduce our prestigious hotel label: Exclusive Island Hotels & Resorts - 3 - TThhee aalllliiaannccee ssppiirriitt aanndd pphhiilloossoopphhyy A new art of travel Exclusive Island Hotels & Resorts is a voluntary hotel collection, launched in December 2004, which gather the most beautiful and the most luxurious island hotels in the world. Within the frame of this alliance, we carry out the promotion and the marketing of the member hotels, excellence and perfection always being on our mind. The vocation of our collection is to carry out a service without fail to the most discriminating travellers, who wish to find the same quality of hospitality and comfort, each time they stay abroad. In collaboration with the hotels own marketing services, we promote each establishment according to a quality charter, common to all our members, while admitting the specificities which make each hotel a place of exception. The Quality Charter Our quality charter is elaborated from the philosophy set up and naturally animated by each of our members. This common spirit is based on four points, namely: ‘Art de vivre’, Excellence, Exclusiveness and Privacy Among the members establishments, the unique ‘Art de vivre’ is expressed among other things by a constant courtesy, an attentive service and a permanent concern to satisfy the least wishes of the most discerning travellers. Whether on the standard of comfort, leisure, service or gastronomy, the Excellence is ubiquitous. Only a few of the member hotels are on a private island, but all offer an exceptional environment, for an absolute Exclusiveness . This exclusive environment offers the opportunity to lay aside the everyday stress and to regenerate the body and the mind in full Privacy . - 4 - TThhee eeppiittoommee ooff iissllaanndd hhootteellss && rreessoorrttss Yria Hotel Resort – Paros, Greece Hoping to promote a new art of travel, through the Exclusive Island Hotels & Resorts label, we attach a great value to the quality of hospitality and the excellence of the service. The Exclusive Island Hotels & Resorts guests must be able to find, in each establishment of the collection, the same standards of comfort, refinement and courtesy; all while maintaining the specificities of each establishment, which make its charm and its exclusiveness. In order to constantly ensure the exclusive character of our member properties, we ensure continuous quality supervision throughout several control tools, of which the first is a rigorous selection of the new applicants. As our goal is to gather the epitome of the island hotels and resorts around the world, we follow up our endeavors by using, in addition to regular anonymous visits, guest satisfaction surveys available in each guestroom. - 5 - The anonymous visits To guarantee the exclusive standards of the alliance, we periodically perform anonymous visits of the members’ establishments. These quality inspections are done on the basis of a detailed questionnaire, developed by Exclusive Island Hotels & Resorts. All aspects of the establishment are carefully examined: reservation, reception, accommodation, service, cuisine, public areas, activities – in short – all aspects affecting guest comfort and convenience. In addition to the visits above, known as " validation visits ", which are planned according to a predefined secret, we could be brought to undertake visits, known as " control visits ", as a result of several complaints from guests who have stayed in the hotel. If after inspection, the complaints formulated by the guests are founded, we could have to, depending on the seriousness of the matter, give out an admonition to the member hotel with obligation to right the problems (followed by a second anonymous visit) or directly exclude the establishment from our alliance. There are pristine coral reefs, turquoise bays and snug anchorages, as well as more metropolitan delights. The Filipino people are very friendly and sometimes embarrassingly hospitable. Their culture is a unique mixture of indigenous, Spanish, Asian and American. Philippine charts are inexpensive and reasonably good. English is widely (although not universally) spoken. The cost of living is very reasonable. This book is intended to meet the particular needs of the cruising yachtsman with a boat in the 10-20 meter range. It supplements (but is not intended to replace) conventional navigational materials, a discussion of which can be found below on page 16. I have tried to make this book accurate, but responsibility for the safety of your vessel and its crew must remain yours alone. CONVENTIONS IN THIS BOOK Coordinates are given for various features to help you find them on a chart, not for uncritical use with GPS. In most cases the position is approximate, and is only given to the nearest whole minute. Where coordinates are expressed more exactly, in decimal minutes or minutes and seconds, the relevant chart is mentioned or WGS 84 is the datum used. See the References section (page 157) for specific details of the chart edition used.
