STEWARDS SUMMARY OF JUDICIAL OUTCOMES, Update #2: issued Saturday, 16 March 2019 at 1540hrs.

Saturday 16 March 2019

Matters from Race 4:

Deputy Race Director Incident Determinations

The DRD conducted a Post-Race investigation into a suspected breach of Article 3.12.1 of Schedule B2 (a Driver must not consistently cut corners by driving over the inside of kerbs or off the Race Track surface) by the Driver of Car #35, , which had been observed to have twice short-cutted the circuit at Turn 12 by driving inside the apex kerb. After a review of Judicial Camera footage from Car #35 and Car #7 and an interview of the Driver of Car #35 who explained that he was struggling to control his Car due to damage sustained in an earlier Incident, the DRD determined that the matter did not warrant referral to the Stewards.

Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed

The Stewards imposed a 5 second Time Penalty on Car #34, James Golding, for a breach of Article 2.1 of Schedule B2 (Careless Driving) for an Incident at the end of lap 1 at the exit of Turn 16 when Car #34 moved significantly to the right of the Track to block Car #7, Andre Heimgartner.

Following a Post-Race investigation by the DRD and after an admission by the Driver of Car #33, Richie Stanaway, the Stewards imposed a 5 second Post-Race Time Penalty on Car #33 for a breach of Article 2.1 of Schedule B2 (Careless Driving) for contact with Car #5, Lee Holdsworth, at Turn 6 on Lap 2 as a result of which Car #5 was pushed off the Race Track surface and lost positions.
