PM Weltmeisterin Malaika Mihambo Startet Beim INDOOR MEETING Karlsruhe 2020 Über Die 60 Meter 10.12.2019 EN Lengoo +++ PRESS RELEASE INDOOR MEETING KARLSRUHE 2020 +++ World Champion Malaika Mihambo to Fabian Dürr Telephone: 0721 782045-261 feature at the starting line of the 60-metre E-mail: [email protected] sprint at the INDOOR MEETING Karlsruhe Karlsruhe, 10 December, 2019 2020 When Germany's athletes of the year are nominated in Baden-Baden this coming Sunday, Malaika Mihambo will be one of the top favourites for the women's title. That means visitors to the INDOOR MEETING at Karlsruhe might be welcoming Germany's Sportswoman of the Year in Hall 3 of the Messe Karlsruhe on 31st January, as Mihambo, the long-jump world champion in Doha, is set to make an appearance at the meeting. Her performance will be off the beaten track so to speak because she will not be competing in her specialist discipline, but instead in the 60-metre sprint. Sporting director Alain Blondel was clearly excited about Mihambo saying yes to competing at the event. "We are absolutely thrilled to have Malaika Mihambo, the German world champion in Doha, joining us here in Karlsruhe. Malaika is a truly world- class athlete. Her appearance is sure to spark excitement at the bustling venue. The 25-year-old also ranks among the top German runners; finishing third at the German championships this year and with her time of 11.21 seconds still meets the qualifying standards for the World championships in Doha. Her sprinting ability is also something that she has been able to incorporate into her jumping, as shown in Doha with her jump of 7.30 meters, which earned her the World championship title. Moreover, the IAAF Scoring calculator rated her performance as the women’s best across all disciplines at the World Championships in Doha. At the INDOOR MEETING, she wants to prove her worth to be in the world's elite over 60 metres. Her personal indoor all-time best stands at 7.24 seconds, which would have qualified her for second place at the 2019 German Indoor Athletics championships in Leipzig. If you want to be at the event to see the action live on 31st January 2020, then you'll have to hurry. There are currently only 150 tickets left on sale. Tickets are available at the tourist information office in the Schaufenster Karlsruhe, Kaiserstraße 72-74, 76133 Karlsruhe. You can also get tickets by phoning the ticket hotline (0721 25000) or by going online to www.ticketmaster.de.
