Membership: HCPEA is comprised of firms and professionals focused primarily on investing in healthcare leveraged buyouts and late stage growth equity. Potential member firms should have a minimum of three active healthcare portfolio companies.

HCPEA is not currently focused on venture investing.

Community/Networking Throughout the year, HCPEA provides its members with opportunities to enhance their contacts, professional development and deal flow. HCPEA's events include regional networking luncheons, special interest group gatherings and its annual meeting and awards dinner.

Research and Publications The association encourages, underwrites and shares research on issues important to the healthcare investment community.

The Healthcare Private Equity Association ("HCPEA") is a nonprofit trade association 501(c)(6) that represents the U.S. healthcare private equity industry. HCPEA's mission is to support the reputation, knowledge and relationships of the healthcare private equity community.

Joseph joined The Riverside Company in 2008. He is currently a Principal, Healthcare Origination leading the Firm's global healthcare sourcing strategy. Prior to joining Riverside, Mr. Ibrahim was Director, MBF Healthcare Partners, a healthcare-focused private equity firm; Vice President of Healthcare Financial Services at GE Capital; Director of Corporate Development – Cardinal Health, and Principal – Health Care Capital Consolidated, Inc.

Mr. Ibrahim earned an M.B.A., Finance from Wake Forest University and a B.A. in History from Vanderbilt University.

Brian Miller — Chairman & Founder

Brian Miller is a Partner and Co-Founder of Linden Capital Partners, a Chicago-based healthcare and life science focused private equity fund. Prior to Linden, Brian was a founding member of the healthcare and life science team at First Chicago Equity Capital. Mr. Miller began his career in the division of Inc. (currently ). He is currently a board member of BarrierSafe Solutions International, CORPAK MedSystems, and Hycor BioMedical, and was a board member of Suture Express.

Mr. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Economics from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, with a concentration in healthcare. He is an officer of the Harvard Business School Health Industry Alumni Association, the founder of Private Equity Analysts of Chicago, and a member of the Alumni Board of the Latin School of Chicago.

Taylor is a Managing Director at Charterhouse Group in 1998. Taylor is responsible for many of the Firm's healthcare service investments. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Upstream Rehabilitation, Inc. and is involved in sourcing and executing investments in healthcare services for the Firm. Prior to joining Charterhouse, he was a member of the Investment Banking Division of & Co. where he concentrated on mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions across a wide array of industries.

Taylor holds an M.B.A. from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration and a B.A. from the University of Virginia. He previously served as a director of Chamberlin Edmonds & Associates, Inc., The Camelot Schools and Cross Country Healthcare

Craig Frances M.D. — Secretary & Policy

Craig D. Frances M.D. is a Managing Partner at Summit Partners. Based in Summit’s Palo Alto office, Craig is active in the firm’s investment activities in North America, Europe and Asia. Prior to Summit, he was founder and manager of three successful companies. Craig was also the Chief Medical Resident at the University of California, San Francisco. During his eight years with Summit Partners, Craig has served as a director of CareCentrix, HealthCare Partners, National Veterinary Associates, Physicians Formula Holdings (NASDAQ: FACE) and Solutionreach.

Craig holds a BA in psychology, with Honors, from Cornell University and an MD from Cornell University Medical College, where he was Valedictorian and received the Paul Sherlock Prize, a peer-voted award for exceptional integrity and compassion in patient care. He is the creator of the Saint-Frances Series, medical books that are used extensively in academic centers across the United States.

Elizabeth Q. Betten — Vice President, Research

Elizabeth Betten is a Director with Madison Dearborn Partners based in Chicago. Prior to joining MDP she was with JP Morgan and Madison Dearborn Partners as an Associate for two years.

Ms. Betten earned an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and an A.B. from Brown University.

Darren Black — Vice President, Services

Darren Black joined SVLS in 2003, became a Partner in 2008 and is focused on healthcare service, pharmaceutical service and healthcare technology investments. Darren currently serves on the boards of Ricerca, Vitalize Consulting Solutions, CRI Worldwide, CR, Sequence Pharma Services, ISG Holdings and Spectrum Professional Services in addition to several active board observer roles (including Broadlane). Before joining SVLS, Darren was Co-Founder and President of two companies: ClinCare, a site management organization and PharmaStar (sold to United BioSource Corporation), a central nervous system education services company. Earlier he was a healthcare consultant for Accenture, assisting managed care and provider-based clients on strategy formulation and implementation.

Darren earned an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an AB in Government from Harvard College.

Barry Freeman is a Partner with Summer Street Capital Partners. Prior to joining Summer Street, Barry was a Managing Director and Head of Healthcare Services investment banking with Middle Market. He was also a Partner and Managing Director with Goldsmith Agio Helms, where he led the firm's healthcare practice and launched its Chicago Office.

Barry earned an MBA with High Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and holds a CPA license.

Aaron Lillybridge — Vice President Professional Development

Aaron Lillybridge is a Principal at Baird Capital Partners. He focuses on investment opportunities in the Manufactured Products sector with a particular focus on healthcare companies. Prior to joining Baird in 2005, Aaron spent two years with Galen Partners a private equity firm in New York. Before Galen, Aaron spent three years within the investment banking group at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray completing numerous equity financings and merger and acquisition transactions.

Aaron received a BA in Business Administration from the University of Washington and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University with concentrations in Management Strategy and Finance.

onathan Oka is a Vice President of Flexpoint Ford. Prior to joining Flexpoint Ford, Mr. Oka served as an associate of GTCR. Mr. Oka has also worked at McKesson Corporation and as a mergers and acquisitions analyst with Lazard Freres and Co. in New York.

Mr. Oka holds a B.A. from Yale University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

David Tamburri — Vice President, Annual Meeting

David Tamburri is a Partner at Health Enterprise Partners. Prior to joining HEP, Mr. Tamburri was a Vice President with Susquehanna Growth Equity, a private equity group focused on opportunities in the technology sector. He was formerly the President and Chief Operating Officer at Onward Healthcare, Inc., a provider of human capital services to healthcare providers sponsored by Welsh, Carson, Anderson, & Stowe. As an Executive Vice President with Pinnacor, Inc., a provider of information and analytical applications, David managed the company’s worldwide operations. Pinnacor completed an IPO in 2000 and was later sold to CBS Marketwatch.

Mr. Tamburri is on the board of MobileMD Inc. and the Norwalk Emergency Shelter and is also a Lecturer at Columbia University in the Executive Master of Science in Technology Management program. He is a distinguished graduate of the United States Military Academy (1993) and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School (1999).

Sandy Thompson is a Senior Partner with RoundTable Healthcare Partners. In this capacity, Mr. Thompson focuses on the identification and execution of new investment opportunities. Mr. Thompson has 17 years of investment banking experience, most recently at Morgan Stanley where, among his responsibilities, he led the global medical technology practice advising his healthcare clients on over $30 billion in transactions. Mr. Thompson serves on the board of directors of BVI.

Sandy earned a Master in Management, J.L. Kellogg School of Management, 1992 and an AB in Economics and Political Science, Duke University, 1987.

Michael Dal Bello — Managing Director — The Blackstone Group

Michael A. Dal Bello serves as a Managing Director at The Blackstone Group. Mr. Dal Bello focuses on healthcare, , and professional services industries. He is also a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the Advisory Board of the Youth Advocacy Center in New York.

Mr. Dal Bello received a B.A. in International Relations and a B.S. in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated summa cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Dal Bello was selected as a Thouron Scholar to attend Oxford University where he received an M.A. He received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 2002.

Chris Gordon — Managing Director — Bain Capital, LLC

Mr. Gordon joined Bain Capital in 1997. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Mr. Gordon was a consultant at Bain & Company. Mr. Gordon received an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar and graduated magna cum laude with an AB in Economics from Harvard College

Mr. Gumina co-heads the Healthcare team globally. His deals include TriZetto, Qualitest Pharmaceuticals, Spectrum Laboratory Network, Encompass Home Health, Voyager HospiceCare and Magnacare Holdings, LLC.

Buddy Joined Apax in 1998. He previously worked at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Merchant Banking Partners.

Harris Hyman IV — Senior Principal — Flexpoint Ford

Harris "Terry" Hyman IV is a Senior Principal of Flexpoint Ford. Prior to joining Flexpoint Ford, Mr. Hyman was a General Partner of a middle market private equity firm, where he was responsible for the firm's healthcare investment activity. Mr. Hyman previously was a Managing Director of , where he served as Co-Head of Healthcare Mergers & Acquisitions. During his 19 years as an investment banker, Mr. Hyman served as financial advisor to many of the leading U.S. and European healthcare companies.

Mr. Hyman received a B.S.E, magna cum laude, from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is a director of MedAssets and United BioSource Corporation.

David Katz — Principal — GTCR

David Katz is a Principal at GTCR and co-head of its Healthcare Group. Prior to joining GTCR, David served as a Managing Director of Frontenac Company, where he worked for 12 years. He also previously served as an Associate of the Clipper Group as well as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.

David holds an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School and a BA in Political Science cum laude from Yale University. David also invests in the community by actively volunteering at the Latin School of Chicago.

Charles Patton — Partner — Oak Hill Capital Partners

Charles B. Patton is a Partner of Oak Hill Capital Partners and has been with the firm since 2001. He is responsible for originating, structuring, and managing investments in the Healthcare group. Prior to joining Oak Hill, he was a Vice President with Morgan Stanley Capital Partners. Mr. Patton also worked in Morgan Stanley's Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring and Private Investment departments.

Mr. Patton earned a B.S. degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Jeff Rhodes — Principal — TPG Capital

Mr. Rhodes is a Principal in the San Francisco office, and is engaged in the firm’s investment activities in the healthcare services and pharmaceutical / medical device sectors. He is involved with TPG’s investments in Biomet, Surgical Care Affiliates (carved out from HealthSouth Corporation) and TPG’s recently announced investment in IMS. Prior to joining TPG's San Francisco office in 2005, Mr. Rhodes worked at McKinsey & Company and Article27 LTD, a start-up software company. He received his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar. He earned his B.A., Summa Cum Laude, in Economics from Williams College.

Tim Sullivan — Partner — Madison Dearborn Partners

Tim is a Managing Director and co-founder of Madison Dearborn Partners.. Prior to co-founding Madison Dearborn Partners, Mr. Sullivan was with First Chicago for three years after having served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Sullivan concentrates on investments in the healthcare sector and currently also serves on the Boards of Directors of Sirona Dental Systems, Inc. and VWR International, LLC. In addition, he is on the Board of Trustees of the Archdiocese of Chicago Investment Committee, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, Northlight Theatre, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northwestern University and Stanford Business School Trust.

Tim holds a B.S. United States Naval Academy; M.S., University of Southern California and an M.B.A. from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Robert Weltman — Managing Director — GenStar Capital

Robert J. Weltman is a Managing Director of Genstar Capital, responsible for sourcing and executing acquisitions and monitoring several of Genstar Capital’s portfolio companies.

Rob worked in the corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions departments of Salomon Brothers Inc. and Robertson, Stephens & Co. where he assisted technology, environmental services, real estate, basic manufacturing and service companies in initial public offerings, private placements and public debt offerings.

Rob earned an AB in Chemistry from Princeton University, magna cum laude. He is a Director of PRA International Inc., Harlan Laboratories, Inc., Oncure Medical Corp., MidCap Financial, LLC and Univita Health, Inc.

Karen Kajmo

Karen Kajmo is the Executive Director of HCPEA and is responsible for its day-to-day operations. Prior to HCPEA she worked as a software Product Manager at both enterprise and venture funded companies. Anthony Philipp

Anthony Philipp the IT Director of HCPEA and is an Associate at Flexpoint Ford. Prior to joining Flexpoint Ford, Mr. Philipp was an analyst at Centerview Partners in New York, focusing on merger and acquisition advisory assignments.

Mr. Philipp received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
