Bodegas Monte Aman Spain - Castilla y Leon
Monte Amán S.L. Bodegas and Vineyards is situated in Castrillo Solarana. The municipal district and area belong to the Ribera del Arlanza region, where the tradition of elaborating wine and cultivating vines dates back to Roman times. In the Visigoth times, vineyards were cultivated in Quintanilla de las Viñas, but in the 9th and 10th centuries, the viticultural re-population of Ribera del Arlanza occurred. The current owners are the Barbadillo Garcia family – five brothers and one sister - who took over the estate in 1985. They expanded plantings, and in 1989, they began building a modern winemaking facility. Winemakesr are Rebeca Palomo Cortes & Esther Gómez Porres.
The vineyards now encompass 30 hectares, consisting of 95% Tinta Founded del país (Tempranillo) and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The soil is 1985 limestone with some gravel. Vines are 25 years old on average, and annual production is around 22,200 9-liter cases. Location Monte Aman wines are D.O. Arlanda. Arlanza is located in the provinces of Burgos and Palencia, Castile and León, Spain, and is Spain named for the Arlanza river that flows through the area. Established in Wine Production Area 2005, the D.O. covers 67 municipalities (54 in the province of Burgos and 13 in the province of Palencia). The D.O. covers 465 hectares, 23 Spain - Castilla y Leon - Arlanza wineries, and produces 850,000 liters. Owners Barbadillo Garcia family
