Such a small word. God. A word used millions of times each day. God. Sometimes as an expletive, sometimes an expression of pleasure, sometimes deep shock, many times spoken in prayer. Whatever the word means or doesn’t mean to you, we all use it every day. For me, God is the ‘Otherness’, that sense, that understanding, that belief, that there is more to life than the right here, right now. God is a mystery; for God to be God He must always be beyond our human understanding, beyond our imagination. For me, God is the creator of all that is around us; the grasses, the flowers, the trees and their fruits, the animals of the land sea and air. God reveals Himself in and through creation. God is the creator of each one of us. For me, God is the one who loves us completely, unconditionally. Not just emotionally but practically. When faced with a crowd of over five thousand God in Jesus provided them with food. When people came to Him with their problems and diseases, He healed them. It is through Jesus that God has shown us the full extent of His love. And He invites us to have that love at the centre of our lives, for that love to be the foundation of all that we do and think and say. St Paul writes: And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fulness of God. Ephesians 3: 17-19 God, such a small word that describes an ‘Otherness’, something beyond our understanding, someone who surrounds us in His creation, who surrounds us with His unconditional love, who invites to know and experience that love for ourselves. The God who laid the earth’s foundations, the God who’s Lord of every nation, the God who tends each generation is here. The God who makes his home inside us, the God who teaches and inspires us, the God who leads and guards and guides us is here, is here. CCLI Song No 7126847. The Run will be starting at 10:00am from the lake at Sotterley Hall, arriving at Brampton & Stoven Village Hall at around 12noon for lunch, before returning to Sotterley. VOLUNTEER DAYS From Friday 23rd July, Ringsfield Hall will be running weekly Volunteer Days. This is a chance to help the work and mission of Ringsfield Hall in hands-on, practical ways. REDISHAM ROUND-UP There is to be a Country & Western afternoon on Sunday 12th September, midday onwards, at The Old Vicarage in Redisham. ‘An afternoon of BBQ food and live Country & Western music. Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 children under 12, under 5’s free.
