Repton Revealed: Illuminating his vision

Project Manager 2018

Freelance commission – an exciting opportunity in North

Sheringham is recognised as the best example of a Repton landscape in the country, described by Country Life in 1957 as ‘a little masterpiece of architecture and landscape’. It is in the ensemble that the core significance of lies, above and beyond the separate elements. It is therefore only fitting that it will take the lead in the to celebrate the bicentenary of his life. There will be a programmed series of events, including a Repton-specific International Garden Photographer of the Year exhibition, a series of walks and talks and then the final event of the year, Repton Revealed: illuminating his vision. Repton 200 is a year- long celebration of the life and work of landscape gardener Humphry Repton and this event will be one of the highest profile taking place in the Trust in 2018.

We are working with an international team of artists including Richard Milner and Tundra, to create a site specific lighting installation, which will highlight Repton views across the property and encourage visitors to think about Repton’s designs, as they experience the park in an entirely new way. We will be illuminating the Repton drive and some of the key features across the site that visitors will discover as they journey through the landscape. The show will be open to the public over seven nights.

Sheringham Park, www.nationaltrust.org.uk/sheringham-park a 1,000 acre site in North Norfolk, is renowned for its coastal views, wildlife and rhododendron collection, attracting over 270,000 visitors per year. We hold a wide range of exciting events attracting all ages to the property. Repton said in his ‘Red Book’ that ‘Sheringham possesses more natural beauty and local advantages than any other place I have ever seen’.
