QE Stock Market Challenge BUSINESS & ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT

Over the past few months individuals, businesses, communities, governments, and countries across the globe have had to deal with the effect of the coronavirus. Global stock markets have fluctuated widely from day-to-day.

As a stock market investor, how would your stocks have performed?

For Bridging we have decided to start an internal competition to see which individual student can make the largest return on £20,000 during the Bridging week starting on Monday 29th June and ending on Friday 3rd July.

The number of teams/individuals is limited to the first 25 participants, so get your entry in quickly!!

If you are not able to participate in QE’s Stock Market Challenge, there will be an opportunity to get involved in the National Student Investor Challenge which we will be running in the department in October (https://www.studentinvestor.org).

The rules are simple:

1. You have £20,000 in total to invest in up to 5 shares. Investments need to be in units of £1,000.

2. You can choose to invest your money in any of the firms shown below:

3. Once or twice a week we will notify you on how your investments are performing. We will announce the winners at the end of the week.

Stock Market Challenge - b. How you want to allocate your £20,000, e.g. i. £5,000 in Next ii. £14,000 in Tesco iii. £1,000 in IAG

2. When we have received your email, we will email you with a name for your Investment Company, e.g. “Investor A”, so that you can keep track of your performance over the week.
