Sub: Highlights for the month of May, 2014

The highlights, achievements and performance of my Railway with respect to System Improvements, Innovations, Passenger Amenities, Preventive Maintenance and Safety Improvements are detailed below:

1.0 Summarised position of commissioning of works vis-à-vis targets for the month of May’ 2014 is as under:

1.1 Achievements:

1.1.1 Circuit Alteration Work: Circuit alteration completed at 18 stations to provide Double Yellow Aspect in lieu of Green Aspect of Distant Signal for reception of stopping train in main line (15 stations in – Bhatni & 3 stations in Indara – Phephna section) – Varanasi Division.

1.1.2 Replacement of Relays: Replaced 65 Nos. different type of defective/old Relays at 7 stations (Shahi – 5 Nos., Kannauj – 41 Nos. – Izzatnagar Division, Deoria Sadar – 5 Nos., Gauri Bazar – 4 Nos., – 5 Nos., Bankata – 1 No. & Chauri Chaura – 4 Nos. – Varanasi Division) with new Relays. With this 156 Nos. defective/old relays have been replaced so far during 2014-15.

1.1.3 Fuse Auditing : Auditing of fuse capacity with respect to load at 16 stations has been completed – Izzatnagar Division. With this, fuse auditing has been completed at 20 stations so far during 2014-15.

1.1.4 Reduction in Signal Incidences: Achieved 9.21% improvement in trains lost punctuality on S & T account and 7.96% improvement in Signal incidences up to May’2014 as compared to the proportionate target.

1.2 System Improvements/Reliability Applications:

1.2.1 Glued Joints: Provided 9 Nos. Glued Joints at 3 stations, 3 Nos. each at Munderwa, Katra and Gonda Jn. – Division and replaced 16 Nos. at 8 stations, 3 Nos. each at Khalilabad & Tinich – Lucknow Division and 2 Nos. each at , Kadipur, Kathkuiyan, Deoria Sadar, 1 No. each at Pipriach & Padrauna – Varanasi Division. With this, 13 Nos. Glued Joints have been provided and 23 Nos. Glued Joints have been replaced so far during 2014-15.

1.2.2 Replacement of defective Secondary Cells: 246 Nos. defective Secondary Cells of different capacities have been replaced (110 Nos.–Izzatnagar Division, 89 Nos. – Lucknow Division & 47 Nos. – Varanasi Division). With this 451 Nos. defective Secondary Cells have been replaced so far during 2014-15.

1.2.3 Replacement of defective Cable: 2.50 Kms. defective Signaling Cables (Izzatnagar Division - 1 Km & Varanasi Division – 1.5 Kms.) has been replaced. With this 3.37 Kms. defective Signaling Cables have been replaced so far during 2014-15.

1.2.4 Directed Maintenance: Completed at 30 stations during this month (Izzatnagar – 13, Lucknow–7 & Varanasi–10) to reduce the signal incidences. With this, Directed Maintenance has been completed at 56 stations so far during 2014-15.

1.2.5 In order to improve the performance of track circuits, following replacement activities were carried out:

1.2.6 To improve performance of points and crossings, following activities were carried out:

1.2.7 To improve performance of control circuits, following activities were carried out:

1.3 SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS:.

1.3.1 Replacement of Electric Point Machine : 8 Nos. Electric Point Machines have been replaced with new EPM (Izzatnagar Division –1 No., Lucknow Division –2Nos. & Varanasi Division –5 Nos.). With this, 8 Nos. Electric Point Machines have been replaced and 2 Nos. have been provided so far during 2014-15.

1.3.2 Progress of Track Circuits: Details enclosed as Annexure A.

1.4 REVENUE GENERATION/SAVING EFFORTS:

1.4.1 Revenue worth 0.39 lac saved with the repairing of panel/equipments locally (By S&T Lab/ GKP & Lucknow Division). With this, 0.89 lac has been saved so far during 2014- 15.

1.4.2 Scrap Disposal: 8.81 MT scrap worth 1.50 lacs disposed off by S&T Con. & Varanasi Division. With this, 15.50 MT scrap worth 2.64 lac has been disposed off so far during 2014-15.

1.4.3 Surrender of BSNL Circuits: 3 Nos. 2 Mbps BSNL Data Circuits(1 No. each between Handia Khas – Bhiti, Mau – Pipridih & Karimuddinpur –Tajpur Dehma) have been surrendered –Varanasi Division, resulting in a revenue saving of 1.21 lacs per annum. With this, 9 Nos. 2 Mbps BSNL Data Circuits have been surrendered, resulting in a revenue saving of 6.75 lacs per annum so far during 2014-15

2.0 WORKSHOP PRODUCTION:

2.1 The turnover of Signal Workshop was 241.09 lacs during the month of May’ 2014. The main items manufactured, include: EPM 40 Nos., Apparatus Case: 110 Nos., Lifting Barrier Gates: 20 Nos., QN1/QNA1 Relays: 300 Nos. & Battery Charger 20 Nos. With this, the cumulative turnover of Signal Workshop has become 518.78 lacs including items viz. EPM 63 Nos., Apparatus Case 230 Nos., Sliding Boom Gates 5 Nos., Lifting Barrier Gates 40 sets, QN-1/QNA-1 Relay 2100 Nos. & Battery Charger 30 Nos. so far during 2014-15.

2.2 Manufactured equipments worth 2.28 Crores despatched during the month. With this,

equipments worth 3.48 Crores have been despatched so far during 2014-15.

3.0 SAFETY PERFORMANCE:

3.1 Signal passing at danger: Nil

3.2 Failure on unsafe side: Nil

3.3 Any accident on S&T account: Nil 3

4.0 ASSET MANAGEMENT: Signalling Incidences (As per Signal Incidence Register): Details enclosed as Annexure– B1.

5.0 Induction of New Technology, Progress of developmental projects vis-à-vis targets:

9.0 COMMUNICATION IMPROVEMENTS:

9.1 Provision of 2 Mbps Railway Channel: 1 No. 2 Mbps Railway Channels provided between DRM Office Lucknow – Basti for CCTV Surveillance System – Lucknow Division. With this, 17 channels of 2 Mbps have been provided so far during 2014-15.

9.2 Provision of 2 Mbps BSNL Channel: 2 Nos. 2 Mbps BSNL Channels provided between Shohratgarh – Chilhia & Naugarh – Chilhia for PRS – Lucknow Division.

9.3 Provision of CCTV Surveillance System: CCTV Surveillance System have been provided at PRS Basti – Lucknow Division.

9.4 Provision of Fare Repeaters: 6 Nos. Fare Repeaters have been provided (1 No. each at Varanasi City, Sarnath, Mau, Yusufpur, Aunrihar and Chhapra Station) for UTS/PRS – Varanasi Division. With this, 8 Nos. Fare Repeaters have been provided so far during 2014-15.

9.5 Provision of Earthing : 6 Nos. provided (2 Nos. each at Bhopatpura, Bisalpur & Nigohi Station) for VF Repeater – Izzatnagar Division.

9.6 Replacement of 5 Watt VHF Battery: 14 Nos. 5 Watt VHF Batteries have been replaced – Izzatnagar Division. With this, 24 Nos. 5 Watt VHF Batteries have been replaced so far during 2014-15.

9.7 Integrated Security System: Technical Bid (Packet – 1) has been finalized by the Competent Authority. Financial Bid (Packet – 2) has been opened on 10.04.14 and under finalization with TC.

9.8 Status of BSNL telephones at stations: Details enclosed as Annexure B5.

9.9 Position of MW/OFC infrastructure shared by RailTel : Details enclosed as Annexure B6.

10.0 PASSENGER AMENITIES :

10.1 UTS : 1 No. UTS location commissioned at Chilhia Station– Lucknow Division.

10.2 Provision of Coach Guidance Display Board : 1 No. Coach Guidance Display Board has been provided on Platform No.-6 at Lucknow Jn. Station – Lucknow Division. With this, 2 Nos. Coach Guidance Display Board have been provided so far during 2014-15.

10.3 Status of Passenger Amenities (Telecom) enclosed as Annexure B7.

11.0 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY:

11.1 Railnet Connectivity: Provided at 16 locations, 9 on Broadband (7 in Area and 2 in Lucknow Division) & 7 on LAN (5 in Gorakhpur Area and 2 in Lucknow Division). With this, Railnet connectivity has been provided at 16 locations on Broadband & 15 locations on LAN so far during 2014-15.

11.2 Railway Operational System: Details enclosed as Annexure - B8.

12.0 HRD Activities:

12.1 In order to upgrade technical skills of S&T officials, On The Job Training given to 38 staff (Izzatnagar – 13, Lucknow – 17 & Varanasi –08). During these sessions, installation/preventive maintenance/adjustment/ trouble shooting concepts were given by officers & supervisors during their inspections. With this, 71 staff have been given On The Job training so far during 2014-15. ***
