Romantic Drama Director : Adam Shankman Year : 2002 Duration : 101 Minutes Stars : Mandy Moore, Shane West, Peter Coyote, Darryl Hannah Film Review Title : A Walk To Remember Genre : Romantic Drama Director : Adam Shankman Year : 2002 Duration : 101 minutes Stars : Mandy Moore, Shane West, Peter Coyote, Darryl Hannah. A walk to remember is teen love story that based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks. How its feel if someone who changes your life meet death? The tragic thing happened to Landon Carter (Shane West). The director Adam Shankman adapt this novel by Nicholas Sparks with the result that a romantic and sad movie. Landon Carter (Shane West) is a big name in the school in-crowd – an aimless, moody, troublemaker who breezes through school making the most of his popularity. In other side, a girl named Jamie Sullivan has different characteristics with Landon. She’s stolid and charitable girl, also religious person. Her father is clergyman, so it proper if her character descend to her father. One night, Landon dares a boy to jump into a reservoir in order to join his gang. When the prank goes wrong with the boy ending up in hospital, Landon is given community service to do, he is assigned to tutor students on the weekends and to participate in the Drama Club's spring play. This throws him together with Jamie, a girl who he has known all his life but ignored. Struggling with the lines of the school play, Landon is forced to ask Jamie for help. In spending time together, Landon learns to worry less about what others think of him and more about doing what he feels is right. The two become friends and a relationship develops. However, Jamie has a very big secret she must keep from Landon, one that will get in the way of their romance and destroy their future together. The “teen troublemaker meets good girl and falls in love” story has been done many times, but this is a perfect example of the genre. Both, West and Moore produce likeable characters with depth. Starting out as a lightweight teen movie, it develops into a fine right-of-passage fable which is surprisingly worthwhile. It’s been done before, of course, but this movie does it much better than most. Those who love teen romances will enjoy this film, but don’t overlook it if the genre doesn’t usually appeal. This film will please a much wider audience than one might expect, including adults and even the men maybe need a tissue for the ending..

Carroll Date Professor of History Dr. Samuel Regalado Date Professor of History Dr. Marcy Rose Chvasta Date Professor of Communications © 2014 Kathleen Boone Chapman ALL RIGHTS RESERVED DEDICATION I am dedicating this work to my three dear friends: Ronda James, Candace Paulson, and Michele Sniegoski. Ronda’s encouragement and obedience to the Lord gave me what I needed to go back to school with significant health issues and so late in life. Candace, who graduated from Stanford “back in the olden days,” to quote our kids, inspired me to follow my dream and become all God wants me to be. Michele’s long struggle with terminal kidney disease motivated me to keep living in spite of my own health issues. We have laughed and cried together over many years, but all of you have given me strength to carry on. Sorry two of you made it to heaven before I could get this finished. I also want to give credit to my husband of forty years who has been a faithful breadwinner, proof-reader, and a paragon of patience. What more could any woman ask for? He has also put up with me yelling at my computer and cursing Bill Gates – A LOT.

Pace University DigitalCommons@Pace Honors College Theses Pforzheimer Honors College 6-2020 The Lack of Recognition for the Film Choreographer in Hollywood Claire Ross Follow this and additional works at: https://digitalcommons.pace.edu/honorscollege_theses Part of the Dance Commons, and the Film and Media Studies Commons The Lack of Recognition for the Film Choreographer in Hollywood Claire Ross Commercial Dance Major Art & Entertainment Management Minor Virginia Cox, MS Dyson College of Arts and Sciences Presentation Date: June 2020 Graduation Date: May 2020 1 Abstract The following research directly addresses why the film choreographer has lacked adequate recognition within the Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Additionally, this study aims to fill the research gap in relation to the minimal documentation that exists regarding the role and contributions of the film choreographer within the film industry. In order to move forward in assessing how the film choreographer can be recognized within the Oscars, one must address why they have not been sufficiently recognized within the history of the Academy Awards. By assessing the film choreographer’s value within the film industry through semi-structured interviews and data analysis methodologies, it was concluded their lack of recognition within the Oscars is due to the lack of dance’s presence in film, the undefined role of a film choreographer, and the general lack of awareness revolving around their contributions to film. All of which directly contribute to the film choreographer’s disproportionately perceived value within the film industry. Overall, this research intends to increase the dialogue revolving around the film choreographer as well as validate their value within the film industry.

Author Nicholas Sparks Dismisses Allegations of Homophobia & Racism As Broadway Readies For ‘The Notebook’ Musical deadline.com/2019/06/nicholas-sparks-broadway-the-notebook-musical-homophobic-antigay-allegations- 1202632304 For the second time in recent months, real-world controversy has visited the make-believe world of Broadway musicals. Nicholas Sparks, whose 1996 novel The Notebook is being turned into a Broadway musical by, among others, playwright and This Is Us producer Bekah Brunstetter, was slammed in a Daily Beast article today for seemingly anti-gay emails he sent to the former headmaster of the faith-based prep school Sparks co-founded in 2006. The situation echoes – if at a much lower volume – the recent and far-from-over controversy trailing the Michael Jackson-based musical Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough. Just this week, Vanessa Hudgens confirmed that she would take part in the first staged reading of the musical Notebook adaptation at Vassar and New York Stage & Film’s prestigious annual play development incubator called the Powerhouse. Others reportedly set to take part in the one-time-only reading on June 23 are Jelani Alladin, Nicholas Belton, Candy Buckley, Antonio Cipriano, Hailey Kilgore and James Naughton. Rent director Michael Greif will direct. (That news was broken by EW). The Daily Beast story details the legal battle between the hugely successful romance writer Sparks and Saul Benjamin, the former headmaster and CEO of the Epiphany School of Global Studies in New Bern, North Carolina. In emails obtained by the website, Sparks, whose many bestselling movie-fodder novels also include A Walk To Remember, expressed opinions that are sure to be unpopular, to put it mildly, in the Broadway theater community.
