Ingmar Bergman Centenary 2018
2018 marks the 100-year anniversary of Ingmar Bergman's birth. Ingmar Bergman was a Swedish, world-famous filmmaker, legendary theatre director and exceptional writer. Bergman made over 60 films and more than 170 theatrical productions, and authored over a hundred books and articles. Among his best-known works are the films The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries and Persona, as well as his autobiography The Magic Lantern, throughout Bergman’s many works, one finds variations on a central theme: dysfunctional families, blood-sucking failed artists and an absent Almighty.
The 100-Year Jubilee is in full swing across the globe, including in Korea. It has been described at the world’s largest jubilee of a single filmmaker.
In Korea, various cultural events are organised by the Embassy of Sweden in Seoul in close cooperation with Koreans partners as well as Swedish Institute, Swedish Film Institute, and Ingmar Bergman Foundation.

The four dances in the film are linked to the images of the epic natural beauty of Fårö and Bergman’s poetic home Hammars.
