Your adventure begins in the tropical city of Darwin. Set off from Darwin and head south to Lichfield National Park, a huge sandstone plateau with dozens of waterfalls. Explore Florence Falls, Wangi Falls and the Buley Rockholes. After a picnic lunch, stroll through steamy rainforests and cool off with a dip in one of Litchfield's picturesque swimming holes. We then hit the road to Wulna Country, where your Limilngan-Wulna hosts – the land’s Traditional Owners – will greet you with a Cul Cul or ‘Welcome to Country’. Learn about their culture during bush tucker talks and didgeridoo and basket weaving demonstrations. Enjoy a camp dinner before climbing into bed at private campsite in the Mary River region. DAY 2 Destination Kakadu National Park Meals included Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Hotel Permanent tented camp, or similar After breakfast this morning, head to onto the water on a wildlife cruise in the Mary River Wetlands, a network of waterways home to crocodiles and native bird species. Kakadu National Park and discover ancient Aboriginal rock art in Ubirr. Your guide will lead an interpretive cultural walk through the numerous rock galleries, before you climb to the top of a lookout for views over the Nardab floodplain. Tonight, relax by the pool at the Kakadu campground and enjoy a group dinner. The flight takes in views over the Arnhem Land escarpment, vast flood plains and billabongs. Later spend time exploring Kakadu’s other major Aboriginal rock art site – Nourlangie (Burrunggui), while your guide provides a glimpse into how the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people live. After lunch head south and stop to visit the historic gold-mining centre of Pine Creek. Stop for a quick dip at Maguk or Gunlom Falls, before continuing on to Katherine, where you'll settle in for the night at a private campsite near Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge). This 23 million-year-old landscape was formed by the Katherine River, which flows from Arnhem Land out to the Timor Sea. After lunch we head to the beautiful Edith falls for one last refreshing swim in the huge plunge pool before we hit the road back to Darwin, where your adventure comes to an end on arrival. Returning from this memorable cruise we return to the resort for a late breakfast before heading onwards to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge). Here we take a scenic 1 km walk along the edge of Barramundi Creek before arriving at the base of Barramundi Falls for a swim in the large plunge pool below, along with the large array of aquatic life that is present at Maguk.     Project Profile Gunlom Falls Road Reconstruction and Re-sheet Client Australian Government – Director of National Parks Location Gunlom Falls – Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory Duration November 2014 – May 2015 Contract Road reconstruction and re-sheet Cost $1.7 million Project Overview Following on from the successful delivery of the Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls 4WD access track upgrade projects, Intract Australia in partnership with McMahon Services were engaged to complete this project at Gunlom Falls. Gunlom is located on Waterfall Creek in the World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park, and also located within the Alligator Rivers Region of the NorthernTerritory. The project involved the road reconstruction and re-sheet of approximately ten kilometres of gravel road to improve road access for tourism leading into the Kakadu National Park, which covers an area of 19,804 kilometers. The project scope was as follows: Clean-out and reform existing cut off drains; Clean-out and reform existing floodway inlets and outlets; Supply and deliver 18,200 tonne of imported fill and road base gravel from Shoal Bay Quarry, Darwin (350km away) to mix and stockpile at the nominated area; Haul, install and compact fill material to wash out areas and to re-establish original road sub-grade level; Haul, install and compact gravel road base to complete. Kick off your five day adventure by checking out the waterfalls of Litchfield National Park. Enjoy lunch before heading to the spectacular Mary River Wetlands, where birds aren’t the only wildlife to be seen. Keep a watch for lurking crocodiles on our river cruise! Our exclusive campsite in the Mary River Region is where we’ll stay tonight. (LD) Day 2 – Mary River to Kakadu Discover ancient Aboriginal rock art at Ubirr and clamber to the top of a rocky lookout for fabulous views over the Nardab floodplain. Once we get there, we’ll hike to the base of this magnificent 200m natural wonder before continuing on to Twin Falls. Take in the beauty of the gorge on a national park operated boat and boardwalk experience. Stop in at the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre this afternoon to learn about local Indigenous culture.
