SHOOTING GALLERY • Vermont averaged 31 shots per game over its final 13 contests last season, and it registered at least 30 shots in 10 of its final 15 games. • The Catamounts fired a season-high 49 shots during a Senior Night tie against Merrimack, breaking the mark of 45 set on Valentine’s Day at Boston College. • No opponent out-shot Vermont in eight games during the month of February. • Maine became the first team to out-shoot UVM in a 10-game stretch in Game 2 of the Hockey East Opening Round on March 7, 2015.

SCOUTING THE AXEMEN • Acadia posted a 20-8-0 record last year in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) and finished second in its division to New Brunswick. • Brett Thompson led the Axemen in goals (19), assists (19), and points (38) and was named to the CIS All-Canadian Second Team. • Zachery Franko posted 30 points and was named to the All-Rookie Team. • Brandon Glover started 24 games between the pipes with a 16-8-0 record, 2.49 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.

KILLER CATAMOUNTS • Vermont’s penalty kill was second in Hockey East and 10th in the nation last year at 87.5%, going perfect on the kill in 22 of its 34 regular season games. • The Catamounts ranked second in Hockey East and seventh in the country in team discipline with an average of just 9.0 penalty minutes per game. • Vermont went 32-for-36 on the kill over its last 10 contests, which included a combined 12-for-12 effort in Game 3’s against Maine and Boston College. • The kill helped Vermont rank second in the league and ninth in the country in team defense with a 2.22 GAA.

I’M SPECIAL, SO SPECIAL • Vermont owned the seventh-best combined special teams in Division I last season at 53.6%. • The Catamounts also had the second-best special teams net in Hockey East at +10, ranking only behind league champion Boston University’s mark of +14. • UVM was tied for the league-lead with only two shorthanded goals against.

ROAD WARRIORS • Vermont went 11-7-2 on the road last year, marking its highest road win total since joining Hockey East prior to the 2005-06 season. • That included an 8-4-1 road mark over the team’s last 13 away games. • The Catamounts out-scored their opponents 61-41 away from home for a +20 goal differential, and three of their four shutouts were on the road. • UVM went 64-for-70 (91.4%) on the penalty kill during its away schedule and had a streak of 26 straight kills snapped on Feb. 13, 2015 at Boston College. • Brady Shaw collected 11 of his team-best 19 goals away from home.

GUT SWEET GUT • Vermont went 11-6-2 in 19 home games last season at Gutterson Fieldhouse and played in front of a sellout crowd (4,007) in 14 of those 19 contests. • It marked the highest win total at Gutterson since the 2004-05 season (13). • The Catamounts were successful on more than a quarter of their power plays at home last season, converting on 18 of their 70 chances. • UVM out-shot its opponents by an average of six per game in Burlington.

PROTECTING THE LEAD • Only seven times in the last three seasons has UVM blown a 40-minute lead, but five of those came during the second half of last season. • During that three-year span, the Catamounts own a 39-5-2 record when lead - ing after two periods of play, including a 17-3-0 mark last season. • Dating back to the start of the 2013-14 season, UVM is 21-2-0 when leading after the first period and 31-8-2 when scoring the first goal .
