6 PROPOSAL:

6.1 This consultative paper is being issued without a preferred option to encourage the submission of comments from interested parties.

6.2 If the final decision of the education committee is for St Aloysius’ Primary School to be associated with St Margaret’s High School the new arrangements will take effect from August 1999. Pupils already enrolled at St Patrick’s High School who do not wish to transfer to St Margaret’s High School will continue to be entitled to free transport.

7 RECOMMENDATIONS:

7.1 The education committee is recommended;

to approve the following options for formal consultation:

(i) Option A: St Aloysius’ Primary School should continue to be associated with St Patrick’s High School for secondary education, -or

(ii) Option B: St Aloysius’ Primary School should be associated with St Margaret’s High School for secondary education from the beginning of session 1999-2000.

to agree that this report be issued as a consultative document and made available to all interested parties,

to agree that all interested parties be asked to make written representation on the options detailed in 7.l(a)to the director of education no later than 26 February 1999,

to request the preparation of a report on the results of the consultation for consideration at the next education committee.
