Penelope What happens when a nursing home decides to throw out the bingo boards and take on the Odyssey instead? ANOTHER GOOD YEAR ON THE BOOKS Mark Stanislawski Well, another year has passed — what a year it’s been . In late October the SOPTV Board of Directors approved our fiscal 2016 audit . SOPTV is required to have an annual audit of our financial statements . Year- over-year, SOPTV’s income and expenses dropped, due in part to receiving a bequest in FY 2015 and declines in underwriting, primarily national program underwriting . Student Showcase features, new Immense Possibilities, and additional veterans programming are continuing in our schedule . In May, look for a new season of My Story of Service, which leads up to the premiere of Ken Burns’ Vietnam in the fall of 2017 . We are also in the process of identifying a new municipality to explore for the Our Town series, which premiered last September with a visit to Gold Hill . Over the past several months, we’ve moved our membership files (thanks to you, our most valuable resource next to our FCC license!) to a new database . Our previous system has been unsupported for more than two years, and the software was having many problems with monthly sustaining gifts, which have become a popular way to support SOPTV . Finally, SOPTV is in the midst of launching SOPTV Passport, which gives you the opportunity to watch PBS content on demand . Our new membership database facilitates the introduction of this service . We’ve been heralding the arrival of Passport for many months, and it is finally here! For more information on Passport see the next page .
