The Colton police department began with a Town the legendary . The Earp family was the first law enforcement in the city, and has been influential not only to the city of Colton, but also to the men and woman of our police department. History has shown us the Earp family was involved in a gun fight in Arizona, and on March 18, 1882, Morgan Earp was assassinated. Morgan Earp was transported by rail road to the city of Colton.
