Tip of the Month - Get in shape for tournament season Many of us happily snacked on sugary baked goods and other tasty treats during the holiday season, but now it's time to shed those few pounds you might have gained. With the bowling tournament season quickly approaching, a simple workout routine and diet will help you get back into shape.

A safe rate of weight loss (about two pounds per week) will limit side effects and maximize your ability to keep the weight off. This rate can be obtained by creating a deficit of 500 calories per day. Decreasing the number of calories you eat and increasing your activity level can make your goal easily obtainable.

Consider joining a local workout facility, getting in a few sessions with a personal trainer, or just starting a routine of spending some time on a treadmill. Getting your legs and core muscles stronger, and improving your heart and lung health, can be beneficial to your bowling game as well as your overall well-being.

Chris Barnes discusses transition How do you adjust for an obstacle you can't see? It is the challenge all bowlers face when dealing with oil transition. Go here for tips from PBA star Chris Barnes on how to tackle this challenge.
