1. CALL TO ORDER

The Board of Education of the Borough of Hillsdale held a Worksession/Regular Meeting at the Anthony S. De Norchia Administration Building on Monday, August 17, 2015. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Mrs. Kathleen O'Flynn, President and Presiding Officer.

The New Jersey Open Public Meetings Law was enacted to insure the right of the public to have advance notice and to attend the meetings of public bodies at which any business affecting their interests is discussed or acted upon. In accordance with the provisions of the Act, the Hillsdale Board of Education has caused notice of this meeting to be published by having the date, time and place thereof posted at the Hillsdale Borough Hall, Hillsdale A venue, Hillsdale; the Hillsdale Public Library, 509 Hillsdale A venue, Hillsdale; the Hillsdale Board of Education Office, 32 Ruckman Road, Hillsdale; and sent to the Board's designated newspapers: The Record, and the Ridgewood News on April27, 2015. This meeting's agenda has been posted and sent to The Ridgewood News and The Record on August 14,2015.

It is recommended that the Board approve Educational Consulting Services, IDE Corp.- Innovative Designs for Education, to provide services for an Instructional Innovation Study for the Ann Blanche Smith School at a rate not to exceed $10,000 for the 2015-2016 school year, using Title I funds.

It Is recommended that the Board approve Educational Consulting Services, IDE Corp. -Innovative Designs for Education, to provide services for Technology Infusion at a rate not to exceed $8,000.

That the Board approve, as per the Superintendent's recommendation, Teacher Aide Level 2, Alyssa Plescia to attend Region II Office of Special Education training for five (5) hours per day, for three (3) days (August 17, 18, and 19) at the rate of $17.90 per hour.

It is recommended that the Board approve the contract with Bergen County Special Services School District for five (5) of our students to receive Teacher of the Deaf Services two (2) days a week for the 2015-2016 school year at an amount not to exceed $52,400.00. BUDGET PREP CALENDAR (BASED ON NO BUDGET VOTE)

OCTOBER 1. Meet with Superintendent to develop list of Budget Assumptions. 2. Review and Prepare Budget Request Forms. 3. Prepare Forms for Administrators.

8F. APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION­ APPROVED RESOLUTION- BOARD MEMBER PARTICIPATION­ BOARD MEMBER PARTICIPATION­ NEW JERSEY SCHOOL BOARDS NEW JERSEY SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE

WHEREAS, the Hillsdale Board of Education (hereinafter referred to as the "Board") has determined that travel and travel expenditures related to Board member attendance at the 2015 Annual Workshop of the New Jersey School Boards Association (hereinafter referred to as the" Annual Workshop") is: (1) educationally necessary and fiscally prudent; (2) directly related to and within the scope of the Board members' current responsibilities; (3) critical to the instructional needs of and furthers the efficient operation of the Hillsdale School District; and (4) is in compliance with N.J.S.A. 18A:12-24 and N.J.S.A. 18A:12-24.1; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, subject to the applicable restrictions and requirements set forth in the New Jersey travel payment guidelines as established by the Department of the Treasury, as well as those guidelines established by the Office of Management and Budget, except to the extent that said guidelines conflict with the provisions of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes, the Board hereby approves travel related to the attendance of the below listed Board members at the Annual Workshop on October 27 through 29,2015, as well as reimbursement for all allowable costs and expenses associated with the same, the total cost of which shall not exceed $4,000.00, so long as said costs and/ or expenses are consistent with the provisions of N.J.S.A. 18A:12-11.

Team Leader/Curriculum Council job descriptions and upcoming meeting with Hillsdale Education Association to discuss. Allowing WIFI Access to staff on personal devices. Will continue to examine various options. QSAC Waiver will not be possible. Update on eliminating food treats on student birthdays. Update that prior Middle School Assistant Principal had not yet responded to his reinstatement for employment.

Discussion ensued regarding the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) Training and Conference Accommodations Discussion regarding the possibility of an August 31, 2015 Special Meeting Mrs. O'Flynn mentioned the Board of Education Self-Evaluation in September Mrs. O'Flynn also discussed the Capital Reserve Account

12. EXECUTIVE SESSION EXECUTIVE SESSION

WHEREAS, the Open Public Meetings Act and the Hillsdale Board of Education reserve the right within the constraints of State Law to sit in Executive Session, and

WHEREAS, there now exists a need for this Board of Education to meet in Executive Session, now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED that the Hillsdale Board of Education recess into Executive Session to discuss exempt matters pertaining to contracts, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the public will be informed 1. When the Board reconvenes to the Worksession/Regular Meeting business portion of this meeting this evening; or 2. At a later date, undetermined at this time.
