Last year, HP averaged a record 2.58 per game (183HR total was also a record), Clippers to a 10-1 victory over marking the second straight year atop the league. In addition, the Clippers served up 88HR, tied for most ever (2012), following two the Tidewater Tides, going 4x5 straight years under 70. Over the life of the park, the opposition has hit more long balls (712 to 706). with 2 doubles, 2HR, 4RBI and 3 runs scored. The last time he would be traded to Seattle for the Clippers won a game when trailing after eight against the rest of the league was 6/4/16 at Scranton/WB (83 losses since). Ken Phelps' bat. Ain't Over 'Til It's Over Since the start of the 2014 season, no team has had more come from behind victories than the 144 posted by Columbus (eight this season) and no team has produced a better winning percentage when trailing than the .345 of the Clippers (no other IL team has won more than a third of games in which they have trailed over that time period; Scranton/WB ranks 2nd at .328). Columbus finished with the 2nd highest winning percentage in such games in 2014 (.356), led the circuit in 2015 (.365) and ranked 3rd in 2016 (.340). Last season, they did not secure a comeback win until 4/26/17 vs. Lehigh Valley (last team in IL to do so), but got one on opening night in 2018.

Trending Downward The 4.75ERA currently posted by the Clippers ranks dead last in the IL, yet the staff leads the league with four shutouts on the season. If the Clippers cannot beat last year's 4.33 (worst since 2009), it would mark the third straight year that the team ERA has gotten worse. From 2011-16, the Clipper staff turned in a sub-4.00ERA five times in six seasons (zero such seasons from 1993-2010), including the best two ERAs of the past 27 years (3.33 in 2015 and 3.65 in 2016).

Walk-Off Magic In the third home game of the season, 4/14 vs. Durham, Nellie Rodriguez saved the Huntington Park crowd from the farce that extra innings have become, blasting a walk- off, 2-run homer in the 9th. They added a second walk-off win, in the 10th home game of the season, when Yu Chang kept the extra-inning circus act from coming to town with his own 2-run blast in the 9th vs. Charlotte on 5/3. In 2017, the Clippers were the last team in the IL to win on a walk-off (6/16/17, 33rd home game).

Bombs Away Columbus led the IL in games with a homer hit (94) and games with a homer allowed (90) in 2017, but have played well under that pace in 2018, as they have homered in just 11 of 27 games and allowed a longball in 11. Despite few games allowing a homer, the Clippers have surrendered them in bunches, giving up 3HR in five games (22HR allowed is 3rd most). On offense, they have only one 3HR game (4/14 vs. Durham, snapped streak of 79 games with fewer than 3HR, dating to 6/22/17).

Columbus Fan Company The 2017 Clippers led the IL and established a new franchise worst with 1,297K last season, but that record looks to be short lived as the current Clippers are on pace for 1,384K. Four times on the young season a Clipper has been punched out at least four times (Mike Papi, Eric Haase and Nellie Rodriguez twice), following a 2017 that saw 17 golden sombreros (three from Rodriguez, four from Richie Shaffer).

Stormy Leather Each of the previous three seasons saw the Clippers finish among the top three defenses in the IL (led league in 2015), as they turned in the three best seasons in franchise history (set records for fielding, .984, and fewest errors, 80, in 2017). It is a much different story in 2018, however, as the Clippers currently rank 12th (.975) and are on pace to commit 124E. Ironically, the Clippers fare worse when they play good defense, turning in a losing record, to date (5-6; 9-7 with a miscue).

Fortune Favors the Bold Greg Allen became the fourth Clipper to get cut down at the plate from an outfield assist in 2018 when Chris Tremie waved him home Manufacturing Runs on 5/3. The Clippers won that game and are now 3-1 in such games, as a tragic fate for the runner has been a good thing for the team. Sacrifices For the 2017 season, Rouglas Odor sent 16 men to their doom in 15 games, but Columbus was 11-4 in those games (won nine in a row Sac Bunt Success: 53% (8x15) from 5/10-6/27/17). In 2016, with Tremie in the third base box, the Clippers were thrown out at home 13 times (went 9-4). Advanced Runners Scored: 3 Sacrifice Flies: 9 International Accolades Stolen Bases The Clippers have yet to win any league awards in 2018, following a 2017 that saw three of the Week honors from Mike SB Success: 74% (14x19) Clevinger (4/10-4/16) and Shawn Morimando (twice, 6/12-6/18 and 6/26-7/2) and one Batter of the Week from Richie Shaffer (6/5- Advanced Runners Scored: 6 6/11). Only Shaffer was selected to play in the 2017 Triple-A All-Star Game (Eric Stamets was added to the team as a replacement), Double Steals: 0 while Yandy Diaz (3B) and Ronny Rodriguez (UT) were selected as postseason All-Stars in 2017. Lead Off Batters Reach on Hit / Score: 59 / 31 Manager Profile Reach on Walk / Score: 24 / 6 Chris Tremie returns to the Columbus dugout in 2018, his sixth campaign as skipper of the Clippers (first to start six consecutive Reach on Error / Score: 6 / 3 seasons as manager). This season Total / Score: 89 / 40 (45%) marks Tremie's 13th year as a manager (all within the Cleveland organization), as he holds a career record of 793-755 (.512). With 6-May Columbus, Tremie sits 3rd on the all-time wins list, posting a record of 400-345 (.537).

Traffic Issues: Of 50 in the IL with at least 20.0IP, Fife has allowed the 2nd most baserunners per inning (2.06; Shawn Morimando leads, 2.26). In total, Fife has allowed 44 baserunners, with 55% of them coming around to score (49th of 50 pitchers; only TJ House has allowed a higher percentage, 58%) and, as a result, Fife's 9.28ERA ranks dead last among pitchers with at least 20.0IP (only pitcher above 7.20).

Been Awhile: From 4/13-4/25, Fife allowed at least 4ER in three straight starts, marking the first such stretch since 4/12-4/22/12 with Albuquerque. He was able to halt the streak with only 3ER on 5/1 at Louisville, avoiding tying his career worst streak of starts with at least 4ER (7/23-8/8/10 with Portland, ME).

Epic Beatdowns: Thanks in part to a supporting ERA of 8.27 from the bullpen (20.2IP, 19ER), the Clippers have suffered the loss in four of five of Fife's starts this year, getting outscored 44-26. The Clippers have led for only 15 innings in Fife's starts, with nine of those coming in his last outing.

2018 : Fife pitched in four games for Cleveland during spring training, posting a 2.70ERA (10.0IP, 8H, 3R, 3ER, 3BB, 7K). He was reassigned to minor league camp on 3/19.

Last Season: Started the year with New Orleans... earned win on 4/22 vs. Omaha (5.0IP, 6H, 0R, 0ER, 2BB, 6K), first win since 6/27/14 with Albuquerque... recorded at least 6.0IP on 5/8 at Tacoma for the first time since 7/8/14, kicking off stretch with at least 6.0IP in six of seven starts from 5/8-6/8 (3-2, 3.00ERA, 42.0IP, 36H, 18R, 14ER, 11BB, 31K)... released by Miami on 6/16 to sign with Seibu in the Japanese Pacific League.
