Softball Releases 2021 Sun Belt Conference Schedule

Softball Releases 2021 Sun Belt Conference Schedule Eagles will play eight Sun Belt series this year, three home and five away Softball Posted: 1/25/2021 3:00:00 PM

STATESBORO - Georgia Southern has announced its Sun Belt Conference softball schedule for the upcoming 2021 season.

The Eagles will play eight conference series - three at home and five on the road - beginning with a trip to Louisiana on March 13-14 in Lafayette, Louisiana. The conference has switched back to a doubleheader and single game two-day format in an effort to save money and cut down on travel during the global pandemic. Georgia Southern and Louisiana will play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 13, beginning at 1 p.m. ET and finishing with a single game on Sunday, March 14, at 1 p.m.

Georgia Southern will host its first league home series on March 20-21 against UL Monroe. The Eagles and the Warhawks will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 20 and finish with an 11 a.m. game on Sunday, March 21.

The Eagles will then make back-to-back road trips next, traveling to Troy on April 2-3 to take on the Trojans. The doubleheader will be on Friday, April 2, at 1 p.m. and the single game on Saturday, April 3, also at 1 p.m. The next weekend, April 9-10, Georgia Southern will visit Coastal Carolina. Friday, April 9, will be a single game at 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 10, will be a 1 p.m. doubleheader.

Georgia Southern hosts Appalachian State next on April 17-18, with the doubleheader on Saturday, April 17, beginning at 1 p.m. The Sunday single game on April 18 will be at Noon.

The Eagles next travel to Texas State on April 24-25 to face the Bobcats. The Saturday, April 24, doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. ET, with the Sunday, April 25, single game taking place at Noon.

Georgia Southern's final home series of the year will be on May 1-2 against South Alabama. The Saturday, May 1, doubleheader begins at Noon and the Sunday, May 2, single game will also take place at Noon. The Eagles then wrap up the regular season with a trip to in-state rival Georgia State on May 7-8. The two teams will play a single game on Thursday, May 6, at 5 p.m., then play a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, May 7.

The Eagles' non-conference slate will include weekend tournaments at Eagle Field on February 12-14 and March 5-7, with details still to be determined. The full non- conference slate will be released as soon as opponents and game times are finalized.

The 2021 Sun Belt Conference Softball Tournament will take place on May 12-15 in Troy, Alabama.
