The Vikings won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular season and conference tournament championships…made 8th NCAA Division II Tournament appearance as the No. 3 seed in the West Regional in San Diego…returned to the national tournament for the first time since back-to-back Final Four appearances in 2011-12 (National Champions) and 2012-13…defeated by eventual West Region champion Chico State to end season 25-6 overall…won the GNAC regular- season championship with a 17-3 mark in league for the sixth overall GNAC regular-season championship and fourth outright…tied program record for most wins in GNAC play with the 17-1 season in 2012-13…beat host Saint Martin’s and defending champion Western Oregon in the GNAC Tournament to win first conference tournament title…26 overall wins are the most since back-to-back 31-win seasons in 2011-12 (National Championship Season) and 2012-13 (Final Four)…10th consecutive winning season, the second-longest streak in program history, and advanced to the postseason for the ninth consecutive season…head coach Tony Dominguez was named the GNAC Coach of the Year and reached the 100-win mark faster than any other WWU men’s basketball coach…had three separate 8- game winning streaks, including 8-0 start to the season…ended season winning 16 of last 19 games…went 12-1 in games in Bellingham as the Vikings completed their second season playing off campus at Whatcom Community College while the Carver Gym renovation is nearing completion.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING…finished the season as one of the top shooting teams in the nation, ranking 24th in Division II in field goal percentage (49.3%/943- for-1913), 24th in 3-point field goal percentage (40.1%/564-for-720) and 10th in free throw percentage (78.3%/564-for-720)…set the WWU single-season record with 282 made 3-pointers and had the 3rd-best free throw shooting percentage…averaged 88.1 points per game, 7th-best in program history and 15th-best in NCAA Division II…scored 100 or more points seven times.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR…redshirt senior Taylor Stafford became the third first-team All-American in program history, earning First-Team All-America honors from the NABC and Basketball Times…named the GNAC Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-GNAC and the GNAC Tournament MVP…became the third WWU player to earn GNAC Player of the Year honors in the 16-year history of the league, joining Ira Graham (2008-09) and John Allen (2012-13)…averaged 22.8 points per game and scored in double-digits in 30 of 31 games (20 20-point games, 8 30-point games)…set WWU’s single-season record with 706 points and ranked 2nd in scoring average…became the fourth 700-point scorer in a single-season in GNAC history (5th instance)…four-time GNAC Player of the Week to tie single-season conference record…scored 44 points Dec. 12 at UC San Diego, 2nd-most in a game in WWU history (most in a regular- season game)…scored 12 points in the NABC/Reese’s Division II All-Star Game in Sioux Falls, SD.

PARKER’S POINTS…senior Jeffrey Parker ended his career as WWU’s all-time leading scorer with 1,867 career points, breaking the record of 1,844 points set by Grant Dykstra…also finished his career as WWU’s leader in field goals made (670) and 2nd with 277 3-pointers made...7th in GNAC history in points scored and tied for 7th with 121 games played…appeared in every game during his WWU career, making the last 109 starts in a row…named to the All-GNAC team for three straight seasons, being a second-team pick as a sophomore in 2014-15 and a first-team selection as a junior (2015-16) and senior (2016-17)…selected as a Second Team NABC All-West Region in 2016-17.

ADDITIONAL NOTES…junior Deandre Dickson missed 9 of the first 10 games of the year after having knee surgery, but ended up as All-GNAC Honorable Mention averaging 14.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in 22 games (all off the bench) and led team with four double-doubles…redshirt freshman Daulton Hommes led the GNAC in 3-point field goal percentage (47.9%/46-for-96) and was an All-GNAC Honorable Mention selection (12.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg)…redshirt freshman Trevor Jasinsky ranked 4th in the GNAC shooting 45.6% (36-for-79) from 3-point range…sophomore Trey Drechsel started the first 16 games of the season (9.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg) before enduring a season-ending injury (broken bone in right foot) Jan. 14 at Western Oregon…sophomore center Logan Schilder recorded 59 blocked shots, 7th in WWU single-season history and finished 28th in NCAA II with 1.90 blocks/game.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING…the Vikings finished amongst the top 50 in the NCAA II statistics in blocked shots per game (4th, 6.0), total blocks (4th, 174), rebound margin (5th, 9.5), free throw percentage (13th, 77.4), field goal percentage (16th, 49.5), defensive rebounds per game (22nd, 28.14), scoring margin (26th, 9.8), scoring offense (35th, 83.4), rebounds per game (37th, 39.45), free throws made (43rd, 496) and win-loss percentage (46th, 72.4)…set single-season team records averaging 6.0 blocks per game (old mark was 5.8 in 1991-92) and rebound margin…free throw percentage of 77.4% (496-for-641) entered the WWU record book in the No. 4 spot…also move into program top 20 listings in field goal percentage (7th), rebounds per game (12th) and points per game (17th).

ALL-GNAC HONORS…three Vikings earn all-conference honors for the 2017-18 season…sophomore forward Daulton Hommes was a unanimous First Team All-GNAC selection averaging 18.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game…junior guard Trey Drechsel was also a First Team All-GNAC honoree with 14.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game…senior forward Deandre Dickson was named Second Team All-GNAC after averaging 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.

PLAYER NOTES…the Vikings used the same starting lineup in 28 of 29 games during the season (Drechsel, Hommes, Jasinsky, Dickson, Schilder)…Daulton Hommes averaged 18.1 points per game, the 16th-best single-season scoring performance in program history…Hommes scored in double-digits in 28 of 29 games, including 9 games with 20+ points…he shot 44.6% from 3-point range (54-for-121), the 4th-best single- season 3-point shooting performance in program history (min. 50 made 3FG)…Hommes finished his sophomore season with 910 career points with a scoring average of 15.2 points per game (9th-best in WWU history)…Trey Drechsel was the lone GNAC player to rank in the top 10 in the conference in scoring (10th, 14.9), rebounding (6th, 7.2) and assists (5th, 3.9)…junior center Logan Schilder shot 59.7% from the field (86-for- 144), the 11th-best single-season field goal percentage in WWU history…Schilder ended his junior season with 98 career blocked shots, 9th-most in WWU history…senior Brett Kingma finished his career with 106 made 3-pointers, 17th-most in program history…four players ended the season averaging double-digits in scoring: Daulton Hommes (18.1), Trey Drechsel (14.9), Deandre Dickson (14.1), Trevor Jasinsky (10.1)…the starting lineup combined to score 1,868 of 2,420 points during the season (77.2%)…four seniors closed out their WWU careers: Deandre Dickson (2016-18), Brad Wallace (2015-18), Blake Fernandez (2015-18) and Brett Kingma (2015-18).

The Vikings completed the 2018-19 season with a 15-15 overall record and tied for 6th in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with a 9-11 league record…missed qualifying for the GNAC Championships hosted by WWU in Carver Gym via tiebreaker, the first time the Vikings have not played in the GNAC Tournament…had a string of 10 consecutive seasons advancing to the postseason snapped (GNAC or NCAA)…had a string of eight consecutive 20-win seasons snapped, but have finished .500 or better in each of the last 12 seasons…started the year 7-2, with only losses to nationally-ranked UC San Diego and Western Oregon, but went 1-5 over a six-game stretch Dec. 16-Jan. 10…opened the season ranked No. 14 in the NABC Preseason Coaches Poll and remained in the national top 20 until the month of December…finished the season with six games in 14 days, including road contests in Montana, Alaska and Canada (went 3-3)…went 8-5 in Carver Gym, 4-7 on the road and 3-3 in neutral- site games (0-3 at Hoops in Hawai'i D2 Power Invitational).

WHAT A SEASON FOR JASINSKY Junior forward Trevor Jasinsky hauled in several awards during the 2018-19 season, including earning All-GNAC First Team, D2CCA First Team West Region and NABC Second Team West Region honors…Jasinsky was also honored for his success as a student-athlete, being selected to the GNAC All-Academic team for the second consecutive season and as a Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 honoree.

JASINSKY EARNS ALL-GNAC HONOR Jasinsky was a unanimous selection to the 2018-19 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Team…Jasinsky averaged 19.1 points and 7.1 rebounds while starting all 30 games for the Vikings…he scored in double-digits in 28 of 30 games and led the conference with 16 games with 20 or more points…amongst conference leaders, Jasinsky was 2nd in scoring average, 4th in rebounding, 1st in free throw percentage (88.7/157-for-77), 7th in 3-pointers made (67-for-199) and led the league averaging 35.5 minutes per game.

1,000 POINTS & 100 3-POINTERS Jasinsky became the 26th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone for a career and is currently 21st in program history with 1,075 career points. Jasinsky is also one of just 20 players in WWU men's basketball history to reach 100 career 3- pointers, currently tied for 10th with 143.

FROM THE CHARITY STRIPE The Vikings led the GNAC and ranked 17th in the nation with a 78.5 free throw percentage…made 456-of-581 free throws during the season for the second-best free throw percentage in program history…Trevor Jasinsky was the top free throw shooter in the GNAC at .887 (157-for-177).

KEEPING THE STREAK ALIVE The Vikings finished the season 15-15 overall, extending its streak with a .500 or better record to 12 consecutive seasons…WWU has finished at least .500 in every season dating back to 2007-08, combining to go 257-106 (.708).

ODDS & ENDS WWU had to deal with the injury bug during the season, with senior guard Siaan Rojas missing all but the first two games of the season…sophomore starting forward Luke Lovelady did not play in the final 8 games of the season due to an injury…freshman Jalen Green averaged 7.8 points per game…senior Tyler Payne started all 30 games and ranked 6th in the GNAC averaging 3.5 assists per game…junior guard Leif Anderson ranked 2nd in the GNAC in 3-point percentage at 47.9% (57-for-119)…junior guard Tucker Eenigenburg was 5th in the GNAC in 3FG percentage at 44.0% (48-for-190)…WWU was 2nd in the GNAC averaging 81.1 points per game and 37.4 rebounds per game, and led the conference with 4.4 blocked shots per game…set a program record with 290 made 3-pointers, while also attempting a WWU record 813 shots from beyond the arc.

The Vikings won the 2020 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Championships…announced as the No. 8 seed in the West Regional and were set to take on No. 1 and tournament host UC San Diego before the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic…finished the 2019-20 season with a 20-10 overall record and tied for 2nd place with a 13-7 mark in GNAC play…earned the No. 2 seed in the GNAC Tournament hosted by Seattle Pacific, and earned wins over Alaska Fairbanks (76-64) and Alaska Anchorage (81-78) to win the second conference tournament title in the last four seasons…recorded the 20th 20-win season in program history, with nine in the last 12 seasons…went 13-3 in home games in Carver Gym (9-1 in GNAC play) and were 7-7 away from Bellingham (5-6 away, 2-1 neutral)…made ninth NCAA II Championships appearance…persevered through several injuries during the season using nine different starting lineups in 30 games…season-high 8-game winning streak Dec. 7-Jan. 18, the 22nd winning streak of 8-or-more games in program history…closed out the decade with a 215-91 record for a .703 winning percentage, which included the 2012 NCAA II National Championship…recorded the 1500th win program history on Dec. 15…recorded 13th consecutive season with an overall record at .500 or better.

AWARD SEASON Three players earned GNAC All-Conference honors, with senior Trevor Jasinsky becoming the sixth Viking in the 19-year history of the conference to earn a pair of First Team All-GNAC honors…sophomore Jalen Green and redshirt freshman D’Angelo Minnis both earned honorable mention honors…Jasinsky was a second-team All-West Region selection as well as the GNAC Championships MVP…senior Logan Schilder was a preseason All-GNAC pick and the GNAC Player of the Week for Nov. 4- 10…Jasinsky and sophomore RJ Secrest were All-GNAC Academic selections, with Jasinsky earning his second consecutive Academic All-District 8 award.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING The Viking ranked 4th in NCAA II and led the GNAC averaging 5.1 blocked shots per game…ranked 2nd in the GNAC averaging 37.1 rebounds per game…Trevor Jasinsky led the team and ranked 11th in the GNAC averaging 14.8 points per game…Jalen Green ranked 19th in scoring (13.0 ppg), 13th in rebounding (5.9 rpg) and 3rd in blocked shots (1.5 bpg) in the GNAC…Logan Schilder was the No. 4 rebounder in the league with 7.3 per game, No. 2 in field goal percentage (.611/99-for-162) and No. 2 with 2.0 blocked shots per game…Schilder finished his career with 150 blocked shots, 5th-best in WWU history and 8th in the GNAC…also 2nd all-time in the GNAC with a .630 field goal percentage (252-for-400)…Leif Anderson hit the game-winning 3- pointer in the GNAC Championships final, ending his career 96-for-205 (.468) from beyond the arc for the 6th-best mark in GNAC history and No. 2 in WWU history…WWU was 15-3 when senior Siaan Rojas was in the starting lineup…D’Angelo Minnis averaged 12.3 points, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

HISTORIC CAREER FOR JASINSKY Trevor Jasinsky concluded his four-year WWU career by playing in all 120 possible games, including making 89 consecutive starts…he finished with 1,518 points to rank 8th in WWU history and is 6th with 197 career 3-pointers made…one of just five players in program history to rank in the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding (6th, 589).
