The Clean Up Action Group is meeting Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 4:30 p.m., in the Altus Chamber of Commerce confer- ence room to finalize plans for a city-wide clean up. The “Clean Up” event will lanch the four-part campaign to keep the City of Altus clean of trash and debris, by put- ting trash in trashbags along Main Street, Broadway, Tama- rack Road, Falcon Road, Veterans Drive, and Park Lane. Volunteers are meeting at 8 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 23 at the Rotary Center to get their empty trashbags and their assignments, and then go and stuff their trashbags full of any garbage or litter along these highways. Volunteers can return their filled bags before noon. Businesses along these major roads are being reminded to properly dispose of their trash, spray and remove weeds, trim trees, and mow and edge their lawns. The Chamber of Commerce has confirmed a great response from businesses in support of the clean up effort to keep the city beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
