A Tale of Two Jds: Jordan Danielson's Rise to Bullpen Dominance If
A Tale of Two JDs: Jordan Danielson’s Rise to Bullpen Dominance If you followed the Saints, or the North Star League for that matter, from 2005-2016, you are probably familiar with longtime D-C pitcher, Jordan Danielson. You also probably just know him simply as “JD”. In high school, JD posted very good numbers as a starter, tallying a total of 91 innings for the Chargers and posting a 9-4 record with a 2.77 ERA. Naturally, he would take on a starting role on the Saints pitching staff in 2006 (after a limited role on the 2005 squad). For six years, JD held his own in the starting rotation, but that would not come without peaks and valleys. Today we’re going to dive deep into JD’s transition from innings-eating starter with consistency issues, to full-time, lights out closer. The Numbers Before we can have some fun with Diesel’s prime years, we need to start from the beginning. In his rookie season (2005), JD logged a modest 7 innings. However, he was perfect during those innings, giving up not a single run, earned or unearned. He also struck out 7 and scattered 5 hits without walking a single batter. Following his fantastic rookie season, he would log 224 more innings, almost exclusively in a starting role. However, during his six-year stint in the rotation, averaging a 4.59 ERA and striking out 8.65 batters per 9 innings. His lowest ERA came in the 2010 season, where he posted a 4.18 ERA. -
Reign Men Taps Into a Compelling Oral History of Game 7 in the 2016 World Series
Reign Men taps into a compelling oral history of Game 7 in the 2016 World Series. Talking Cubs heads all top CSN Chicago producers need in riveting ‘Reign Men’ By George Castle, CBM Historian Posted Thursday, March 23, 2017 Some of the most riveting TV can be a bunch of talking heads. The best example is enjoying multiple airings on CSN Chicago, the first at 9:30 p.m. Monday, March 27. When a one-hour documentary combines Theo Epstein and his Merry Men of Wrigley Field, who can talk as good a game as they play, with the video skills of world-class producers Sarah Lauch and Ryan McGuffey, you have a must-watch production. We all know “what” happened in the Game 7 Cubs victory of the 2016 World Series that turned from potentially the most catastrophic loss in franchise history into its most memorable triumph in just a few minutes in Cleveland. Now, thanks to the sublime re- porting and editing skills of Lauch and McGuffey, we now have the “how” and “why” through the oral history contained in “Reign Men: The Story Behind Game 7 of the 2016 World Series.” Anyone with sense is tired of the endless shots of the 35-and-under bar crowd whooping it up for top sports events. The word here is gratuitous. “Reign Men” largely eschews those images and other “color” shots in favor of telling the story. And what a tale to tell. Lauch and McGuffey, who have a combined 20 sports Emmy Awards in hand for their labors, could have simply done a rehash of what many term the greatest Game 7 in World Series history. -

While some fans purchase tickets via Brewers.com from the warmth of their home or office, others will brave the elements at Miller Park. The Famous Racing Sausages, Bernie Brewer and former Brewers players will be on hand to greet fans waiting in line for tickets, the first 2,000 of whom will receive a T-shirt. Participants will be allowed to set up camp outside the ballpark prior to noon on Feb. 25. No hand-made or hand- built shelters, or shelters made of cardboard or wood, will be permitted. Shelters with a footprint greater than 100 square feet are not permitted unless otherwise approved by the Brewers. Miller Park power sources are not available for public use, and gas generators are not permitted on the property. Only state-approved gas/propane heating/grilling units with fuel-valve turn-offs and self-contained charcoal/wood units are permitted; provided, however, that they be a minimum distance of 25 feet from the building or shelters. -
