Clark Atlanta @ Shorter 7:00 pm Both the Wolves and the Panthers dropped close contests, losing by a combined four points. North Alabama now stands as the lone unbeaten team in conference play after its upset of October 8 (Saturday) the then #3 West Georgia team. October 15 (Saturday) Fort Valley State 1:00 pm There were a pair of Thursday night conference clashes last week, highlighted by the GSC @ Florida Tech Game of the Week in Cleveland, Mississippi that featured the Heritage Bell Classic between *West Alabama @ West Georgia 2:00 pm Mississippi College and Delta State. DSU outscored MC 33-7 in the second half to pull away *West Florida @ Delta State 2:00 pm for a 61-31 win. DSU is the top scoring offense in the conference and is led by running back Chris Robinson, who was named the GSC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time *Valdosta State @ Mississippi College 3:00 pm this year following his performance of 189 total yards and four touchdowns against the rival *Shorter @ North Alabama 6:00 pm Choctaws.

All Times are Local; GSC teams in BOLD; *Conference West Alabama boosted its conference record up the 2-1 with a road conference victory over Shorter. The Hawks again got a solid performance from freshman quarterback Tyler Pullum, game who earned GSC Freshman of the Week honors for the second time, but were unable to stop Austin Grammer and the Tigers. Grammer threw for five touchdowns in the 43-28 win.

WEEK SIX PREVIEW The Gulf South Conference currently boasts four teams in the AFCA Top 25, the most of any conference in the country. Those four teams were scheduled to square off in a pair of games, but due to inclement weather, the North Alabama/Florida Tech game has been cancelled. #12 West Georgia will travel to #25 Valdosta State in the Battle for the Peach Basket. It’s the 36th meeting between the in-state rivals, with VSU holding a 23-12 advantage in the series.

Mississippi College will be featured in its second consecutive GSC Game of the Week, host- ing West Florida. Mississippi College is still looking for its first conference win, and UWF is riding high after upsetting Florida Tech last weekend. Delta State will be looking for its third straight win when the Statesmen travel to Livingston to face West Alabama. Both of these teams are 2-1 in the conference.

Shorter will again be home on a Thursday night, this time welcoming in Clark Atlanta for the SIAC.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Delta State RB Chris Robinson Robinson won the GSC Offensive Player of the Week Award for the second time this season, also earning the honor after the opening week of play. In the DSU win, he accounted for 189 yards and scored four touchdowns. He rushed for 140 yards on 21 carries with three touchdowns and caught three passes for 49 yards and one touchdown. Rob- inson leads the league in rushing yards per game at 107.0 yards per contest and in rushing touchdowns, scoring 11 times on the ground. His 11 rushing touchdowns are tied for the third most in all of Division II.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK West Florida CB Marvin Conley Conley was integral to the Argonauts’ upset of #16 Florida Tech in the inaugural Coastal Classic. Conley had five solo tackles and two interceptions in the game against the in-state rival Panthers. His 40-yard interception return to the FIT 25 in the fourth quarter led to a UWF TD drive that put the Argonauts ahead 35-24 with just over 10 minutes to play. He now has three interceptions in the last two games.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK West Florida P Andrew Bogaenko Bogaenko punted six times with an average of 41.7 yards per kick this week for UWF. Of those six punts, he put three inside the 20. The West Florida special teams unit held FIT to just 5.4 yards per return. In two GSC contests, he has posted a 40.7 average to rank first in the conference. On the year, he has averaged 39.5 per punt, tied for first in the league.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK Shorter QB Tyler Pullum Pullum is now a two-time winner of GSC Freshman of the Week in 2016. Pullum was 12-for-19 on pass attempts against West Alabama, with 171 yards passing and 22 yards rushing. He threw for a pair of touchdowns and rushed for a third in the conference clash. His rushing touchdown was the first of his career, and his 70-yard completion to Elijah Gilbert was the longest of his career.

The Gulf South Conference has officially announced the schedule for the 12th edition of its Florida’s Space Coast GSC Football Game of the Week featured live on ESPN 3.

ESPN3 serves as the exclusive carrier of the league’s package for the third consecutive season. This year’s 10-game slate includes nine Saturday games and one Thursday night contest and kicks off on September 17 when hosts Florida Tech in Rome, Ga.

“The Gulf South Conference’s Game of the Week package has been a leader in Division II since its inception. Continuing our relation- ship with ESPN provides unparalleled exposure and distribution for the GSC,” said Commissioner Matt Wilson. “We believe the ESPN3 and WatchESPN digital platforms are ideal for our fans, student-athletes and future recruits. This year’s slate of games features some of the top teams in Division II and provides a look at emerging programs and rivalries. We are excited to get GSC Football started this fall on ESPN3.”

All nine Conference squads are featured at least twice. Florida Tech and West Alabama lead the way with three appearances, followed by Delta State, Mississippi College, North Alabama, Shorter, Valdosta State, West Florida and West Georgia.

Play-by-play commentator Don Russell and color commentator Rick Rhodes will continue to lead the coverage from the booth and Gulf Coast Mobile, L.L.C. will produce the package for the fifth year in a row.
