Iconic & in 28 Apr - 1 May

Explore the wild and rugged Snowdonia National Park over the bank holiday weekend. Climb Mount , the highest mountain in England & (1085 m). There will be guided walks or take the opportunity complete an iconic scramble (The Snowdon Horseshoe), tackling more exposed ground in much smaller groups.

Snowdonia offers world class hiking as well as some of the UK’s most famous beginner scrambling routes. On each day we’ll split into groups, either hiking or scrambling. Both groups will climb Mount Snowdon over the weekend.

Scrambling is the cross-over between hill- and , where the route gets steep and craggy requiring the use of your hands as well as feet. At beginner level it does not require the use of ropes. If you want to join the scrambling group then you must have previous experience hiking in mountains, have a and be up for the challenge. In return, scrambling gives walkers access to exciting routes including craggy climbs and exhilarating, challenging ridge walks. We’ll be in small groups (max 6 per instructor) and have experienced guides with us. On one day we’ll tackle the full Snowdon Horseshoe (if the group and conditions allow), probably the most famous beginner scramble in the UK with 1 scrambling across the the airy ridges of and Y Lliwedd*. On the other day we could head to the Glyders range to take on or Bristly Ridge.

For the walkers, Snowdonia has some of the most spectacular hikes in the country. On Mount Snowdon alone there are 6 different paths to the summit to choose from, all with amazing views to the coast and neighbouring mountain ranges. Nearby, the Glyders or the offer more great hikes and amazing views across Snowdonia and to the coast.

We’ll be staying together in a recently refurbished and comfortable group cottage. If you've never come on an EC Adventure before, they're informal, friendly and great fun. We generally have singles, couples and small sets of friends coming along, from complete beginners to adventure professionals - what we all share is a love for adventure. Ages tend to range between mid 20s and mid 40s but anyone over 18 years old and young at heart is welcome.

*If you are unfamiliar with Crib Goch please search for it on google or check out this video to be clear on what the route is like.

Closer to the time if you are still struggling then if you let us know where you will be coming from and we will give out your details to others in the group by email. We find this works really well people are often able to find someone to share a lift with, especially coming from Bristol/SW or London/SE.

Directions: The A55 along the coast provides quick and easy access to North Wales connecting the motorways from Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and London. At junction 11 on the A55 signs can be followed for Llanberis and then Llanrug after passing the Lake Padarn. Turn left just before the Glyntwrog public house and Bryn Eryr is located 200m along on the left, opposite an outdoor centre.

If you are unable to arrange a lift, the nearest rail station is Bangor, ~ 10 miles away. There are various train routes that connect at Chester, including 2 / 3hour train journeys from London. Some of these fast trains continue to Holyhead Port, stopping at Bangor. If not a local train connection can be made at Chester.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY On both days everyone will head out for full day walks after breakfast. Expect to be on the hill for most of the day and take a packed lunch with you. Over the weekend everyone will get a chance t tackle Snowdon whether by a hiking or scrambling walk. On the other day we’ll explore another of snowdonia’s spectacular mountains.

MONDAY We expect people to leave at different times on Monday, but we can discuss and coordinate options for walks or other activities in the local area for those who have time. Breakfast will be provided.

ACCOMMODATION We’ll be staying in recently refurbished, large and comfortable holiday cottage. Rooms will be shared with comfortable, adult sized bunk beds, you will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow. If you haven't done 'communal living' for a while it is lots of fun but you might want to bring earplugs just in case!

FOOD No food is provided on Friday evening as people tend to arrive at different times and eat en-route. Breakfast will be provided on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings and we’ll sit down together for a group dinner on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Please bring a packed lunch with you for Saturday and Sunday to save time (there is however a small supermarket in the village should you need anything extra).
