SEASONAL PRODUCTION COORDINATOR – THE BENTWAY CONSERVANCY

Position Type: Contract (40 hours per week) Location: 55 Fort York Boulevard Toronto, ON M5V 4B3 Start Date: April 1st, 2021 Contract Period: 13 weeks (ending June 30th, 2021)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, and liaising with the Senior Manager of Programming, the Seasonal Production Coordinator will help to oversee and execute an annual calendar of events that both enlivens the Bentway site and local neighbourhood, and engages with a broad, diverse set of users. The Seasonal Production Coordinator will assist in the development of the logistical, technical, and operational requirements of a select number of the Bentway’s internally produced installations (as well as possible events, performances, workshops, and more) specifically within its Spring/Summer 2021 seasons.

Responsibilities:

 Provide onsite supervision of internal installations and related staff including security, full time and event based technical crew (audio, lighting, staging, video), and event based support staff.  Liaise with partners to support local off-site installations, including securing permissions and supporting the development of site agreements and maintenance and operations plans.  Assist in the creation and implementation of standardized project planning documents, operational procedures, staffing plans, schedules, risk assessments, and management plans.  Ascertain and book technical and logistical requirements.  Liaise with fabricators, engineers, other technical and production suppliers to support internal projects.  Contribute to the Bentway’s Health and Safety program including conducting risk assessments.  Develop and monitor program schedules to ensure coordination with Programming, Facilities, and Communications teams as well as project partners and external stakeholders.  Provide administrative support in regard of production matters to the Production Supervisor and Senior Manager of Programming (if required).  Other project related duties as assigned/required.

Qualifications:

 A recent graduate of a relevant college or university program including, but not limited to, Theatre Arts Production and Design, Technical Arts, Event Management, etc.  Knowledge of, and demonstrated work experience within, organization and event management/production, the visual arts, multidisciplinary performance and installations  Previous work experience within public space is considered an asset  Previous experience with scheduling and familiarity with contracting procedures  Familiarity with health and safety protocols and procedures  Very strong written and oral communication skills  Ability to liaise effectively with a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including artists, fabricators, suppliers, etc.  Evidence of problem solving skills and the ability to multi-task in high-pressure situations  Ability to work flexible hours, as required  Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with the public under limited supervision

 Formal certifications including, but not limited to, a class G driver’s license, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform Training, and Fork Lift Training are not mandatory but are considered a significant asset

The project was made possible through the collaboration of a range of city-builders and experts, including the City of Toronto, , Judy and Wilmot Matthews, Ken Greenberg Consultants, PUBLIC WORK, Fort York National Historic Site, and Artscape. The Bentway is a proud member of the High Line Network, an international network of projects that transform underutilized infrastructure into new urban landscapes.
