SOUTH HAMILTON SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUNDATION NEWS

The South Hamilton School District Foundation continues to support the students at South Hamilton School by approving the following Mini-Grant requests:

A. Chris Entner’s Mini-Grant ($401.50) was to improve the dust collection system in the Industrial Technology shop. Before this took place, there were two larger vacuums that were used to collect dust from 12 different machines. Now, the shop has four more vacuums that are dedicated to four of those machines. This will improve the air quality for the students and Mr. Entner breathe. It will also aid in cleaning the shop at a much faster rate.

B. Matthew Harper’s Mini-Grant was for a class set of ukuleles for fifth and sixth grade students. The total project cost $1155.50 and the Foundation paid $505.50. With additional help from the South Hamilton Elementary Booster Club of $350 and the Music Booster Club of $300, they were able to purchase these ukuleles and start playing them in class every day. Mr. Harper has received positive feedback from both students and families. He is glad that this idea became a reality for the students. The students have shown great improvement reading music and trying out these new concepts in class.

C. Lance Keller purchased a FIMI Drone with $299 from the Foundation Mini-Grant and $200 from the School District. If you’ve been to a Hawk football game in recent weeks you may have noticed lights flashing by the crowd or something strange hoovering over the team during warm-ups. Meet FIMI X8SE South Hamilton’s new drone. The Project Management/Yearbook class recently upgraded to a drone with 4k capability and a camera mounted on a gimbal that stabilizes the video for great quality footage. South Hamilton students, Aspen Wibholm and Taylor Remsburg, recently finished a football highlight video with footage captured from the FIMI drone. You can find the video on the school website. The new addition to the class will allow students to produce some quality video projects in the near future. GO HAWKS!!

The current South Hamilton School District Foundation members are Kristi Busch, Justin Deppe, Kelly Feaker, Mindy Harris, Dave Kruger, Kristy Luppes, Dan Scarrow and Garren Zanker.
